Roger has answered 7 of them, which leaves 8 of them unanswered as we move into the portion of the game that I like to call HINT TIME!These "hints" will come in a multiple choice format, with the correct answer being one of three possibilities. I will now list the remaining questions, followed by the hints! _________________________________________________ 01) When Decca Records first released "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley And His Comets in the Spring of 1954, most people had never heard of Rock And Roll and the company had a hard time describing the song. He did not earn any money in royalties from it. He only received his original session fee of £7 ($14 US), which is not even enough for him to buy his own copy of the album. 11) This Rigteous Brothers' hit was never intended to be a single. What song is it? 12) Bobby "Boris" Pickett, who topped the Billboard Pop chart in 1962 with "The Monster Mash", once had his tour bus break down outside of a town called Frankenstein, in what state? 13) When asked about their controversial hit song "One Toke Over The Line" during an interview with Brewer and Shipley, they said that "toke" had nothing to do with marijuana, but meant what? 14) When this Beatles' song was first issued, the fine print under the title said "From the United Artists Release Eight Arms To Hold You", which was the original name for the film Help!. Well done Mr. Ella! You have picked up 5 more points! #8 is indeed Andy White. He was hired by George Martin to play drums in the studio, because Pete Best wasn't good enough, but meanwhile, Best had been dismissed and Ringo had joined the band. Martin, who was unfamiliar with Ringo's talent, still had White play drums on Love Me Do and on P.S. I Love You. #11 is indeed Unchained Melody. Hard to believe it wasn't thought of as good enough to be a single! #13 is indeed "token" hence the line about "sittin' downtown in a railway station." #14 is indeed Ticket To Ride which was the first single from the HELP album! #15 is indeed Cher who was doing session work for Phil Spector when she met a guy named Sonny, around that time! That brings your total to 12 Rog! Excellent contestantization (is that a word?) and leaves only 3 more unanswered questions! If anyone knows the answers to #'s 1, 4 and 12, now is the time to chime in. If nobody gets them by tomorrow night, I'll give ya'all the answers and game #8 will be over! Have fun now! Wink

Can you name the song? 06) A member of a popular 60's band changed his middle name to Roger and began using it as a stage name after becoming interested in Eastern religion. Can you name the song, which was made popular during the British invasion of the 1960's? 09) After the death of his band's drummer in 1980, this guitarist refused to even pick up a guitar for nearly nine months. Can you name him? 10) Who wrote Linda Ronstadt's 1968 hit, "Different Drum"? 11) This singer wrote and recorded a song called "Sheila" when he was just 14 years old. The effort went nowhere, but six years later, he recorded it again for ABC-Paramount and this time it went to number one in the US. Can you name him? 12) Elvis' girlfriend, Ginger Alden, found him dead, lying on the floor of his bathroom. He had been seated on the toilet reading what? 13) Who appeared in The Bangles video 'Going Down To Liverpool" as their driver? 14) Tommy James and the Shondells' "It's Only Love" album cover was the first professional photo shoot by a popular rock star's future wife. "The Wrecking Crew" documentary!Imagine if every hit song of the late 50s, 60s, 70s, and even into the 80s was performed by one band. Ridiculous, huh? Well, guess what? It's closer to reality than you may think and it's hard to contain my enthusiasm for this stunning new documentary. Denny Tedesco chronicles the musical history laid down by his legendary late father Tommy, as well as Hal Blaine and Don Randi, Carol Kaye, Al Casey, Earl Palmer, Plas Johnson, Joe Osborn, and the dozens of others who sat in on the recordings. Known informally as The Wrecking Crew, these session musicians played on so many hit songs that it could be said they had a larger role to play in the culture of the last 50 years than any other group of people in the world. You may not have heard their names, but you've heard their music. The list of artists whose songs they backed up is amazing: The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Association, Glen Campbell, The Mamas & Papas, The Monkees, Richard Harris, The 5th Dimension, Sam Cooke, Sonny and Cher, Captain and Tennille, The Righteous Brothers, Simon and Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Ike and Tina Turner, Nancy Sinatra, The Carpenters, Tommy Roe, The Ronettes, Paul Revere and The Raiders, and Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, to name a few. The Wrecking Crew played on almost all their hit songs. To look at the list is to hear the soundtrack of your life, whether you're 15 or 85 -- you know these songs. No matter what your age, if you have ever listened to music The Wrecking Crew is bound to touch you as few films have. To say that this film is long overdue would be an incredible understatement. It's hard to imagine anyone alive today who hasn't been affected by the people who are profiled in this documentary. There's even a good chance you wouldn't be here if not for the music of The Wrecking Crew. Ponder that. --------------------------------------- Yes indeed folks, THAT was a partial list of hit songs on which the Wrecking Crew performed! I guess I stumped yaz on that one, eh?!?! More later, Gus
