I hope you have good seats Johnny! I've never seen Bruce but I'd like to. He gives a great show from what I've always heard! Have fun!I've been listening to CHEAPSHOT. An album made by a band that our fellow board member, Lungman, was in from 1977 to 1986. He played lap and pedal steel guitar. The producer was a guy named Chris Darrow, founder of a seminal SoCal rock band in the sixties named Kaleidescope (once tauted by Jimmy Page as his favoite band) who also played fiddle and lead guitar on the album. Chris went on to become an early member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. His son, Steven Darrow is Axl Rose's bass player and was a very good friend of Sandy West's. He played a few projects with her as well as with Cherie! Steven at one time had the largest collection of Runaways memorabelia on the planet (which he has since sold) according to Chris. Chris, being well known in SoCal music circles has collaborated with Kim Fowley. The piano player on the album (Jerry Waller) and the fiddle player (Max Budda) also did some projects with Fowley. Anyway, this is a very good album featuring songs like Wooly Bully, Who Do You Love and the Tom Waits classic, Heart Of Saturday Night! I had no idea Lungman had this interesting musical history but I was happy to find out and to hear this great music, so I'd like to thank the good doctor for sending it my way, for sure! THANKS DOC!!! Happy listening folks! Gus -------------------- Live long and prosper!

BBC: **** 's Angels Sought to Kill **** Jagger LONDON (AP) — Rolling Stones singer **** Jagger escaped an assassination plot hatched in 1969 by the Hells Angels, a new British Broadcasting Corp. documentary has claimed.
A program to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Monday says the rock star was the target of the plot following a purported dispute with the motorcycle gang over concert security.
Jagger had vowed not to use Hells Angel members as bouncers following the death in December 1969 of an 18-year-old fan at a notorious free performance at Altamont Speedway in Northern California. In return, gang members hatched a plan to kill Jagger at his holiday home in Long Island, New York, the BBC claimed. "The Hells Angels were so angered by Jagger's treatment of them that they decided to kill him," Tom Mangold, the presenter of the program, was quoted as telling Britain's Sunday Telegraph newspaper. He said the plan was disclosed during an interview with Mark Young, a former FBI officer, for the BBC's "The FBI at 100" documentary. Mangold said the men tried to reach Jagger by sea. "The boat was hit by a storm and all of the men were thrown overboard," he was quoted as saying. They all survived but made no other attempt on his life, Mangold said. It was not clear whether Jagger was ever informed of the alleged plot against him. LD Communications, Jagger's publicists in Britain, did not immediately return calls requesting comment. The Hells Angels have always denied any connection with the Altamont Speedway killing. --------------------

Lindsay Lohan is seeking inspiration from two major pop stars for her upcoming album, she tells PEOPLE in an exclusive interview. "I want it to be dance," she tells PEOPLE. "I want it to be kind of Kylie Minogue-meets-Rihanna. I hope to tour with it and I hope to really promote it." Asked if any of the tracks feature lyrics that refer her past year, including her several stints in rehab and family turmoil, Lohan said Thursday night at a photo exhibit at The Atelier in New York, "I'm not sure yet – I don't know if I really want to. "I think the past is the past and it should be kept there," Lohan added. "It's a new slate for me, and I want to show that in my new record." But Lohan has already finished a few tracks. "I'm recording here in New York, and in L.A.," she said at Thursday’s party, sponsored by Snapple Antioxidant Water, which included shots from photographers including Gus Freedman and a silent auction with proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross. "I've already done three songs. I'm doing my third song in New York actually." Lohan's first few tunes have already won rave reviews from her manager-mom Dina. "I've heard a couple of tracks," she told PEOPLE last month. "They were amazing!" The star’s 14-year-old sister Ali is also hitting the studio to record an album – but "she's younger, so it's a different vibe," says Lindsay. Lohan also adds that she doesn't think it's odd her sister is following in her footsteps. "She's doing what I love to do, and she loves to do it too." I have enjoyed Lindsay's music in the past, so I'll give this a listen, as well! She has been a busy actress too, of late, starring in a movie about John Lennon's killer and now a movie about the Manson Girls! I hope her crazy party days are behind her now! Gus

quote: Originally posted by ellanoize 3/22/08: quote: Lawyers for the Beatles sued Friday to prevent the distribution of unreleased recordings purportedly made during Ringo Starr's first performance with the group in 1962. The dispute between Apple Corps Ltd., the London company formed by the Beatles that helps guard their legacy, and Fuego Entertainment Inc. of Miami Lakes stems from recordings the Fab Four apparently made during a performance at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany. Eight unreleased tracks are said to be among the recordings, including Paul McCartney singing Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues" and McCartney and John Lennon singing "Ask Me Why." Apple Corps claims that the songs were taped without the consent of the band and that Fuego and sister companies Echo-Fuego Music Group LLC and Echo-Vista Inc. have no right to distribute them. Daily Access: Celebrity Eateries "This appears to us to be a garden-variety bootleg recording," said Paul LiCalsi, an attorney for Apple Corps. But Fuego Entertainment says the recordings were legally made. "Don't claim that these were just bootlegged," said Fuego president Hugo Cancio. "It's not like today, that you just go in with a phone or a blackberry and you record." The lawsuit contends that the recordings are of poor quality and that circulating them "dilutes and tarnishes the extraordinarily valuable image associated with the Beatles." Cancio said that he had not been served with a copy of the lawsuit, but that the filing demanding at least $15 million in damages was not expected. "I'm surprised because up to a few weeks ago, we were in good-faith conversations with Apple," he said. Also named in the lawsuit is Jeffrey Collins, a partner of Cancio who obtained the recordings. It's unclear how Collins obtained the recordings. Cancio intended to release the songs as "Jammin' with The Beatles and Friends, Star Club, Hamburg, 1962." "It's unfair to millions of Beatles fans not to allow this recording to be put out. The world deserves to hear these tracks," he said. "The fact is that we have it; they don't, and that is what's bothering them."
I hope these recordings get released! I'd love to hear them! Gus

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Event: ERIC BURDON AND WAR Where: LONDON'S ROYAL ALBERT HALL When: MONDAY APRIL 21 2008Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Legend, Eric Burdon (The Animals, "House of the Rising Sun," "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood") reunites with his proto-funk band, War ("Spill the Wine," "The World is a Ghetto," "Cisco Kid") for their first joint appearance in over 35 years. This historic reunion of Eric Burdon with Lonnie Jordan and War is a once in a lifetime, must-see event. Eric Burdon and the Animals were the second band from England in the early 1960's to score an international number one record, kick-starting what became known as British Invasion. That electrified rendition of a standard folk song "House of the Rising Sun," inspired Bob Dylan and the creation of Folk-Rock, as well as countless young guitar players. Burdon's hits from the mid-sixties ("Sky Pilot," "Monterey") pioneered the psychedelic San Francisco sound. Again, as the tumultuous decade ended Burdon introduced the laid back Afro/Latin LA sound with a new band, the interracial - and provocatively named - War, spawning a career which produced dozens of distinctive jazz-tinged hits. One of the most influential and greatest of British blues rock singers, Burdon's latest release, "Soul of a Man," takes the devastation of New Orleans and the Gulf as it's starting point, proving that the causes of blues - and the music itself - are alive and well in the 21st century. I would give anything to be there! Please, if there is a God in heaven, let there be a DVD release! Gus

Roger Waters plays `Dark Side,' unleashes giant pig Apr 28 04:00 AM US/Eastern By JAKE COYLE
RAW: Roger Waters Unleashes School Bus-Sized Inflated Pig at Coachella INDIO, Calif. (AP) - Roger Waters brought Coachella to a close with an epic two-set performance that included playing all of "Dark Side of the Moon" and unleashing a giant inflated pig into the night sky. The 64-year-old Waters, the third headliner of the three-day music festival following Prince and Jack Johnson, performed an elaborate, almost retrospective concert Sunday featuring music from throughout Pink Floyd's catalog. Old photographs of the band often flashed across the screen behind Waters and his current band, which played songs from "The Wall," "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals," among other Floyd albums. They also played "Dark Side" in its entirety, culminating with the album's iconic triangle prism rising above the stage. But Waters' biggest prop was an in*****ble pig the size of a school bus that emerged while he played a version of "Pigs" from 1977's capitalism critique, "Animals." The pig, which was led above the crowd from lines held on the ground, displayed the words "Don't be led to the slaughter" and a cartoon of Uncle Sam wielding two bloody cleavers. The other side read "Fear builds walls." The underside of the pig simply read "Obama" with a checked ballot box alongside. As Waters drew the song to a close, flame bursts exploded on the sides of the stage and the swine floated into the night sky. Waters said sadly and comically, "That's my pig." The performance also included speaker towers placed around the outside of the crowd. Smoke machines funneled across the stage and over the audience, thickening the atmosphere

Cherie, Gus, & Co: Bob Welch from Fleetwood Mac would like you all to check out the following....
Except...to say that I subscribe to an "insiders" free music biz newsletter called the "Lefsetz Letter". Everybody, young and old, in the "biz" reads it...from Al Kooper to Steve Tyler to Steve Lukather to Irving Azoff(Frontline Management) to Michael Rapino (Live Nation concerts) etc. etc.Readers of "Lefsetz" are invited to comment on Bob's (Bob Lefsetz')various topics.....and they do...me included...sometimes pretty brutally. Bob's recent piece on Mariah Carey for example, was hilarious....but those outside the "biz"might see it as "vicious". What a lot of people outside the music business don't realize, is that those of us who have been in it for years speak VERY frankly and openly with each other. We also talk in a language that is often, I must admit, even profane. Subcribe to the letter...it's free..... If you do, after a few weeks you will see what I mean ;-) This is all by the way of saying that I may have been writing(on the Ledge) in the way I might write in response to a "Lefsetz Letter" , and, as Wendy pointed out, rightly, "Bob...the Ledge is a fan site, NOT the Lefsetz letter"! And so with that.....I shall be silent ;-) Best, Bob Welch Go to .... http://www.lefsetz.com/

John Lennon's Lyrics To 'give Peace A Chance' Set For Auction By: Howie Edelson John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to his 1969 peace anthem "Give Peace A Chance" are expected to sell for up to $600,000 at auction in July. Reuters reported that the manuscript from late May 1969 is being sold by comedy writer Gail Renard, who when she was16 attended Lennon and wife Yoko Ono's second bed-in event held in Montreal's Queen Elizabeth Hotel, when she became friendly with the couple. Lennon took a liking to Renard, and had the official Beatles magazine Beatles Monthly publish a piece she wrote covering the bed-in. Lennon also gave her several keepsakes, including the lyric sheet to the song, telling her, "One day they will be worth something." The lyrics are being sold as part of Christie's Rock and Pop Memorabilia sale on July 10th. http://www.kbsradio.ca/news/music/87/709944

Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks writes another solo chapter
Stevie Nicks began an abbreviated schedule of late spring and summer solo dates April 18 in Reading, Pa., hoping no doubt to continue the string of generally glowing reviews she received for her 2007 dates both with Chris Isaak and on her own. In recent weeks, however, most of the ******r has been not about Nicks or her tour, but the band she sings with, Fleetwood Mac. Late last month, the veteran rock group's plans to tour in the first half of 2009 became known when Sheryl Crow, who is close friends with Nicks, announced she might be joining the Mac lineup on the road. Singer Lindsay Buckingham has confirmed that Mac is planning to tour, but says Crow's involvement is not yet a done deal. "I think we were all a little surprised she (Crow) was announcing that to the world with such certainty," Buckingham told Billboard magazine. "We have talked about the possibility of bringing another woman into the scene to kind of give Stevie a sort of foil and shake it up a little bit. She (Crow) was certainly a name that has come up. We'll have to see." Nicks is still promoting her late 2007 CD/DVD release, "Crystal Visions ... The Very Best of Stevie Nicks," a collection of songs that samples material from her three-decade career as a solo artist and member of Fleetwood Mac. The CD portion includes several previously unreleased live tracks and a couple of dance remixes, while the DVD has 13 videos with voiceover commentary by Nicks and an audio interview with the Grammy Award-winning singer by journalist David Wild. Buckingham and Nicks joined Fleetwood Mac in 1974, and with their help the band topped the charts with "Fleetwood Mac" in 1975, followed by 1977's "Rumours," which sold more than 17 million copies and is one of the best-selling albums of all time. Nicks, who will turn 60 on May 26, is known for her tempestuous singing and mystical Gypsy hippie-persona. She started her solo career in 1981 with the "Bella Donna" CD, which made it to No. 1 thanks such hits as the Tom Petty duet "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around," the Don Henley duet "Leather and Lace" and "Edge of Seventeen (Just Like the White Winged Dove)." Her most recent solo album, 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La," hit No. 5 on the Billboard chart. According to an interview for the May issue of Q magazine, Nicks is working on a new solo album. "I've been writing continually," she said as she handed the interviewer a sheet of paper with a composition titled "The Soldier's Angel," inspired by her charity work. "It's one of the many poems that is ready to go to the piano right now. I'm always writing." http://www.azcentral.com/ent/music/articles/2008/04/25/20080425stevienicks.html

Jimi Hendrix estate says sex video bogus LOS ANGELES (AFP) - An amateur sex video purporting to feature legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix and two women is bogus, managers of the late rock-star's estate said in a statement Friday.

The statement, published on the official Jimi Hendrix website, blasted the grainy 40-year-old footage that surfaced earlier this week as a "callous attempt to trade on the image" of the music legend, who died in 1970 aged 27.
"We strongly dispute the claimed authenticity and affirmatively state that Experience Hendrix is neither involved in nor have we authorized the distribution of this film," the statement said. "Further, we deplore this obvious exploitation of Jimi Hendrix," it added. "We are highly offended by the disgraceful portrayal." On Tuesday US **** giant Vivid Entertainment said it was releasing "Jimi Hendrix: The Sex Tape." The Los Angeles-based company said it obtained the footage from a collector, and said it had been authenticated by experts, including Pamela Des Barres, a former groupie and lover of Hendrix. Cynthia "Plaster Caster" Albritton, "famous for creating plaster molds of the *****es of rock stars, including that of Hendrix," was also cited as authenticating the video. However, Kathy Etchingham, one of Hendrix's steady girlfriends in the 1960s, told the New York Times the man in the tape "is not him. His face is too broad and nose and nostrils too wide for Jimi." Celebrity sex videos are highly lucrative part of the adult movie industry, with hotel heiress Paris Hilton and actress Pamela Anderson among those who found themselves unwitting sex tape stars. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080505/en_afp/entertainmentmusic***********peoplehendrix_080505084208

OT : Madonna Is In The RRHOF ???!!! By Southwest RangerI know this should be in the Whats Up ? (Musically Speaking)Section but I just have to vent about this.....
Apparently the Intellectual Giants over at the RRHOF feel Madonna Louise Ciccone Penn Leon Ritchie (To be continued)is one of the innovators of Rock & Roll and deserved to be inducted into the RRHOF ....
Well they also felt Adolf Hitler was a gentleman before he blasted away at Poland and the rest of the civilized world To me this is just another insult to artists like Kate Bush, Bob Welch, Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, and several other who get passed over in favor of who strikes the powers that be fancy over at the RRHOF... Here are several reasons why I feel Miz Ciccone DOES'NT belong in the RRHOF .... 1) Her rudeness to the fans.... 2) General Anti-American Remarks 3) Treating the Step-Mother who showed nothing but comfort and affection to her utter rudeness and contempt 4) Making rude remarks about the town of Evansville, Indiana during the filming of A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN. The other 99% of the cast found the town and townspeople some of the most hospitable and warm folks like anyone else from the American Midwest. Since they refused to put up with Miz Ciccone's rudeness she felt it gave her the right to slam them 5)Her pet fool Liz Rosenberg who could even defend Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Regime after touring Dachau. 6)Associating with Rosie O'Donnell who ranks alongside Miz Ciccone for overall rudeness 7) Replying to the late Roman Catholic Pope John Paul II personal invitation for a special audience "If he wants to see me, tell him to buy a ticket like everyone else!" 8)Turning a once nice guy and decent actor Sean Penn into a drug addled creep. 9)Using profanity at the RRHOF induction ceremony and insulting the audience 10) Refusing to attend the funeral of a manager who helped give her a big break from AIDS yet blasts the US for being Homophobic ! 11)Trotting out her Children (with two different Fathers) as stage props to show she isn't such a bad person after she grabs her crotch onstage or does'nt something offensive 12)Hides her prostitute background during her time in NYC 13) Nannies raise her kids and she exploits her hired help. Madonna the "anti-censorship queen" stopped a Nanny tell all. **** Jagger, David Bowie, and Grace Slick were hardly Promise Keeper figures but they took the time to raise their kids.... 14)Ripping off the style of Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, **** Jagger, and other performers and then claiming credit for it under "reinvention" 15)She can't act for s**t and makes Paris Hilton look like Lauren Bacall ! Also there have been a lot of disturbing tales about why Stevie Nicks no longer used the services of Liz Rosenberg who also serves as Miz Ciccone's publicist/lapdog apologist.... Maybe it's because a lot of personal information concerning Stevie and her family suddenly made their way in the media during the time Rosenberg was employed by Stevie.... Thats JMHO....Anybody else want to vent about this ?
