On Saturday the 23rd of February at 3.40PM, the St. Kilda Saints began their triumphant march toward the NAB Premiership with a victory over Geelong (followed by two further victories over both Essendon and Adelaide). It was an exciting match full of goals and behinds, but what made this particular match a special one was the wager that existed between myself and Jarryd. We had earlier had discussions on how good it would be to have a pet at work, and although I can't recall exactly how we came to it, it was decided that Sea Monkeys would be the perfect pet, and that the loser of this football game bet would have to purchase them. However, it was not as easy as it sounded. Searching high and low (evening trying eBay), the elusive Sea Monkeys proved quite difficult to track down indeed. The pet shop on the High St/Chapel St intersection didn't have them. The $2 Asian shops on High St didn't have them. Where else could we look??? The hunt died down not long after and we ended up pretty much forgetting about it. Until the Queen's Birthday long weekend, that is..... Four of us (I'll leave it to you guys to guess which four) went down to Rosebud and on Saturday June 7th we went to the local shopping plaza. We were in Target and Adam and Teagan were lining up to make a purchase. Jarryd and I decided to get the FOD so we were heading out to the front when a bin of cheap chocolate caught our collective eye. Moving on, there it was - sitting on the middle of the bench, with no specific reason to be sitting there - a display full of Amazing Live Sea Monkeys. We both spotted them at the same time and it was clear what we had to do. Fast forward to today (June 11th) and we have started the process of growing our Amazing Live Sea Monkeys. Unfortunately it takes 24 hours to prepare the water, so at the moment we're just waiting for that to sort itself out. Tomorrow, the eggs go in and the real excitement begins! Photos to come tonight. Woohoo! -------------------- THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE PURE

From the Amazing Live Sea Monkeys Official Handbook: quote: It seems that at mating time in the Animal Kingdom, the males engage in combat to win the fin, paw, flipper, hoof, wing or what have you, or their "lady love". Since they too are animals, your Amazing Live Sea Monkeys are no exception and they also have the right to make "fools" of themselves if they are so inclined. You may think they look cute or funny when you see your pugnacious pets get into a fight, but remember - to them, the battle is very serious and can (in very rare occaisions) even end in death for one of the tiny combatants.
I also just read something amazing - if your Amazing Live Sea Monkeys die, you can BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE!! Incredible. The pet that keeps on giving!

Oh, we looked very hard. Jarryd checked out the pet shop here, and I checked out some Asian shops.. what more do you want?? Nah but seriously, Jarryd did look at Knox once. At least, that's what he told me. But hey, he's got bad eyesight, give the guy a break. I thought you of all people would be a bit more sympathetic towards that Ames, rather than pointing the finger at the guy and telling him to open his eyes. Shame on you!!Nah, really though, they were hard to find!! I got in today and after the weekend - we have baby Seamonkeys!! I've tried taking some photos so will post that tonight. We added the eggs on Thursday June 11th, and despite claims that the eggs would hatch "instantly", they didn't. Another page mroe accurately communicated that the hatching process would take 5-7 days. Anyway I'll post photos of the growing process as well as the lil' buggers tonight.
