I've been thinking about making a thread like this for a while but HB was down and I forgot about it.

Anyway we can use it to talk about movies we've seen recently and whether thy were good or crap and recommendations and what not.

Last night I watched Adaptation and it was really good.

For some reason I had thought it was about a writer who starts writing a book about himself and what he wites starts coming true. It wasn't really like that, not in the way I was expecting, but it still kind of was.

Anyway after a bit of a slow and "oh, maybe this isn't the movie I thought it was" start, it got really interesting and by the end I was really impressed. It's worth checking out.

The other movie that originally inspired this thread was The Butterfly Effect. I know everyone has probably already seen it but I saw it for the first time the other week and it was fucking amazing! By the end of it I was just lying in bed like a goofball with my mouth open as I figured out how everything fit into place and what everything meant, etc. etc. It was just awesome; more movies should be like this.

That's all for now, it would be good if other people are interested enough to post in here too. Talk about the movies I've mentioned or talk about a movie you just saw. It doesn't have to be detailed just get to it.

Yay [Film]

could not agree more with your comments on the butterfly effect. i assume you're referring to the 'baby dying' version. I had my mouth open at the end too.

Yeah I am... I watched the other endings in the special features and they were shit. If I had've seen either of those rather than the one I did see, I would have been pretty disppointed.

Make this a non-spoilers thread. Much better idea so people don't get pissed off when people ruin endings.

Yeah I've been wanting to see Old Boy for ages, just never gotten around to it. Is it cheap on DVD yet? I might have a look today.

And I didn't see The Departed either. Heard nothing but good things though.

well me and jazzard jazz went and saw Pursuit Of Happyness today with Will Smith and also starring Dan Castellenata (voice of Homer Simpson ).
I thought it was brilliant, inspirational story and as expected very well made.
Will Smith should certainly give rapping the flick cos he's a very good actor.

Go see it y'all

Fulla n me went and saw Apocalypto last night. Melvyn Gibson you've done it again!

I had literally no idea what it was about or if it was going to be good or whatever, but it was great. Really brutal (and gory bean), it's back in the days of the Aztecs (at least i think it was them).. I don't really wanna say much to give anything away cos i thought it was better not knowing anything about it then going in there with an idea of what happened.

But for the 139 minutes it went neither Fulla or me weren't not entertained, I didn't even check my watch once! Definately go see it if ya get the chance..

do we rate it brendan?

4/5 beans.

Hahahah, yeah we should rate our movies out of five beans. [Thumbs up]

I've never heard of Apocalypto, whn you were talking bout it I just assumed it was some superhero movie. Heh, guess I was wrong.

I watched Mr. Deeds last night! Couldn't remember if i'd already seen it or not. Turns out I had. The end let me down though, it was too motivational and I hate ho everyoen ralliestogether and everyone feels good and happy. It was a funny movie though, I give it three beans.

Not the newest movie out there, but I highly recomend Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas I'm curious if this is just an American cult phenom, or if perhaps the genious of the late great Thompson is wider spread? Anyways, just watch it.

5/5 Beans

I watched it for the first tim last week and I loved it. Great movie.

I watched Teen Wolf on Sunday night.. although I enjoyed watching it and gota few laughs (mostly at the movie, not with it) it really wasa pretty crap movie. Just so many things that made me question character motives etc. How come nobody questioned the fact he was a wolf??? Everyone just accepted it. Hmm..

And then last night i watched Teen Wolf Too which was even worse. It used some of the same characters (only some of whom were the same actors...) and had the exact same plot as the first one. Every little plot point was there, even the sub-plot was the same. Onlythis time, Teen Wolf wasthe original wolf's cousin and he was starting at college! Hilarity ensues. Or not. [sure] Oh, andalso, this time, instead of being a basketball champ... he's a boxer. I guess that's how you make a movie different.

Both only get one bean.

You've gotta see this bean: http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MG/185167~Surf-Nazis-Must-Die-Posters.jpg

You seem to like randomly bad movies, and this lives up to that tag.

Less than one bean from me though.

Night At The Museum..

Saw the previews a couple of weeks ago for it, thought it would be pretty lame and crappy.. Was I mistaken! Was non-stop laughs without a dull moment all through it. With an all star cast (Ben Stiller, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Owen Wilson, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams) to boot, it was just really funny and i genuinely enjoyed the whole movie.

3.5/5 beans

Watched Goodfellas the other night, have seen it quite a few times and always considered it one of my favourites. Untill the Departed came out my hands down favourite Scorsese flick (Goodfellas probably still holds up over the Departed), Great cast (De Niro, Pesci, Liotta) Great movie, great acting.. based on a true story. couldnt ask for more!

5/5 beans

Trivia: The word "fuck" is used 246 times in this film (mostly by Joe Pesci)

I don't think I've even seen Goodfellas... I know it's got a lot going for it but I can't remember ever actually watching it. I should do so. Especially if you gave it five beans!
