So we all remember the time I wrote to the Dash of Salt company and they sent me $10 in Coles Myer vouchers, right?Well, Jarryd and I just had a great idea. It started a week ago when Jarryd bought a jar of salsa from Safeway and we were both close to breaking our wrists trying to open it. I said that we should write to teh company asking why it is always so hard to open the damn jars. Nothing came of it. Then today, the same thing happened, but this time I did write a letter and we are going to send it on the way home tonight. It reads as follows. quote: Dear sir/madam,I am writing in regard to your range of Old El Paso salsas. They are always my first port of call when I am in need of something to enjoy with my corn chips. I like to vary flavours but the Roasted Capsicum Salsa is by far my favourite. But anyway, my reason for writing is that I have a question: why is it that the lids are always so hard to open??? I realise it has to do with the safety seal, but my friend and myself can often spend a good ten minutes trying to open the jar, and only to end up with sore wrists. There is certainly no question that the contents are worth the almighty struggle, but I was hoping some light could be shed on the situation for me. Alternatively, are there any ‘insider tips’ on how best to remove the lid?? I’ve had suggestions on applying hot water beforehand but it only serves to make the jar harder to grip. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Yours faithfully, Jarryd.
We were talking about how good it was last time that I got $10 in vouchers, and how good it would be if we got the same this time. Then we really got talking. We were saying how we should start writing to a whole heap of companies, and then when we get lots of vouchers from them all, we can use it to buy food and drinks for D36 next year. Then we thought maybe if we could all chip in with a bit of letter writing, and then when D36 comes around we'd truly be able to celebrate in style! And THEN... we thought we could run a contest to see WHO could raise the most money for D36, and they could get some sort of prize. I dunno what but we could find something good! Who else thinks this is a good idea??? Even if we all just did a letter each, that would be plenty of money (if we all got $10 back each). Please post feedback. -------------------- THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE PURE

K so I've written a letter using the above one pretty much as a template, to the Smith's Snackfood Company.. quote: November 28, 2007Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing in kind regard of your wide potato crisp selection. I thoroughly enjoy a good crisp, and Smith's is my number one choice due to guaranteed quality and such a range. I especially enjoy the 'Red Rock Deli' range. However the real reason for writing is that for some time now I've been more than curious as to how you develop such interesting flavours! For instance, Cheese & Onion (a personal favourite). Now I don't like cheese, and am not about to start eating an onion like it's a Granny Smith. But when you somehow put the two into a chip flavouring and cover those beautiful crinkle cuts with it, my taste buds rejoice. My question is, how oh how are such obscure flavours not only devised but then created and stuck to the chips. Is it like a giant salt shaker? I would love to learn more about this process, if someone could write back it would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Adam Neil, Grateful consumer
Fingers crossed!
