Personally, I own literally hundreds (probably over 1000) CD's. I DJ's for about 20 years and built up a huge (completely legal) collection of music. Plus I do sound for lots of bands and they just give me cd's all the time.As for the statement about sending poor quality samples out and then buying the real deal if we like it, I would venture to say that those of us on this board would be likely to do so, but unfortunately, most of the people these days are so used to compressed music with no dynamic range that they won't care if it's a 64bit MP3. My son had satellite radio, and I thought it would be an excellent way to play between set music and stuff for live shows (yea, I know, not legal!) but the quality was so poor, I just couldn't do it, but most people could really care less about the quality.

I hear you loud and clear Bfish!Selmerdave, I guess it is a good idea but then I get so little time to truely "Listen", I can't see wasting it with inferior quality recordings. XM works great for background music and the Ipod is fine for out in the boat while fishing but the true measure of great tunes is when I sit in front of the Altecs and play it as clean as I can get it. I can still dig out old albums from before when my system was lacking that never really impressed me then but do now! My search is always for stuff that sounds particularly good on nice altecs driven by a nice system. As an example, my buddy has a nice system but plays all his music in the surround mode. More speakers=more sound and is better to him. I like it best with just the 19s and sitting in the sweet spot. Gary
