A women was discussing abuse with Dr. Laura and the women claimed that both physical and emotional abuse were equally bad.

Dr. Laura immediately disagreed but I never got to hear which is worse, physical or emotional abuse?

I think this is a very complex issue. If one believes that emotional abuse is worse, I could probably find examples in which physical abuse was worse. If one believes that physical abuse is worse, I could probably find examples of emotional abuse that are worse.

Please help me better understand which is worse, Psychological (or emotional) abuse, or physical abuse. ( I assume of a non-sexual variety).
