Hi all!! Im a refugee from Computer Vine, SFV, Readers, and Auto Vine (Hi Ery!). I managed to make it to the lifeboats after we hit the iceberg Im 46, with a 21 going on 12 year old son, big, sweet kid with the common sense of a gnat. Just south, and work in the city itself. My favorite books are: (when I can find my glasses, or get a Book on Tape) Dune, Starship Troopers, Lucifer's Hammer, LOTR & The Hobbit, Tim Zahn's Conquerors series,1984, Fahrenheidt 451, Ringworld,Neuromancer Authors: Frank Herbert, Heinlien (early stuff), Larry Niven, Poul Anderson, JRR Tolkien, Ursula K. LeGuin, Octavia Butler, Rober Silverberg, Harlan Ellison Movies: The 13th warrior, X-Men, Star Wars series, Star Trek, Galaxy Quest , Crouching Tiger, Das Boot, The Bedford Incident, Conan (First movie), The Navigator:a medieval odessey, Tremors 1&2 TV: Star treks (all), B5, Crusade, West Wing, anything on the History Channel. Music: ELP, Pink Floyd, Leonard Cohen,Deep Purple Most desired job: Food Critic Likes: Monkeys, family, motorcycles, strategy games, quiteness,Orcs. Dislikes: Computers, Advertising & Marketing, Managers, Managers, Manag...er...ya get the idea, nasty brutal people, the incoming administration. Well! That took longer than I thought! Pleased to be here. ------------------ ---Shadowjack

Actually, a re-introduction. Someone in PATD mumbled about there being some confusion over there being two "TheOne's", and I had to agree. So, further up is my profile (of sorts); I'll just add that TheOne has retired, and Wizz will be here from now on. Das Boot, huh? Yeah, it's a great movie...forgot to list those before. There's Stargate, The Usual Suspects, My Cousin Vinnie, The Mask, Generations (they finally get rid of William Shatner!), Lethal Weapon...Ok, it's taking too much time going through the mental list. Two daughters, 23 and 18. I've gotten used to the "you're wrong" look before I say anything. What's fun, though, is asking the older one what she thinks I should say to the younger one to convice the youngest that I'm speaking from experience, and I'm right. The older one, wiser now, just looks at me and says "I don't know...". Imagine that! An admission! I also have a fondness for trains. When I was a lot younger, I wanted to be an engineer...worked for Southern Pacific for 14 years as a communications engineer, and got to ride in the locomotive on a train going over the Sierra's once. Not exactly what I had in mind, but close enough. That trip over "The Hill" was kind of interesting...you get to enjoy a lot of beautiful country if all you can do is 25 MPH. showing up...I'm feeling like a refugee. Maybe I should just expect that any online community is going to collapse under the weight of new technologies every 2 to 3 years. Anyway, here I am again. Using MightyLady of the Flame Red Hair as my nick again. Others may remember me as BeeBunch, the nick I've carried, courtesy of a college roomie, since the mid-70's. Look for me to post in the Women's Sewing Circle if anywhere... I tend to lurk much and post little. [This message has been edited by MightyLady77 (edited March 04, 2001).]

Er, some of you here might even recognise me. Amazing. I joined the SFV in (I think) September of 1999. It took me a month or two to stop lurking, and I'll admit I was never really cured of that habit. At one time or another, I read almost all of the old (inactive) topics that I could find, as well as a good portion of the newer stuff. As for posting, well... I did my bits in the Castle (once upon a time) and the Cagliostro (ditto), as well as OOOF, though at 21 I am admittedly a young old fogey. Other stuff about me: My body resides in sunny Las Cruces, New Mexico, but I've also lived in Nebraska, Connecticut, California, Rhode Island... And various other places that I remember absolutely nothing about. My mind tends to go off wherever it wants to, whether I want it to or not. My imagination isn't overactive. It's just completely hypertrophied. Favourite authors, sf or not and in no particular order: Alexander Solzhenitsyn, Guy Gavriel Kay, Roger Zelazny, Steven Brust, Tolkien... And too many others to mention. I write stuff, though less than I would like and perhaps more than some people I know would want me to. I'm a guy, unmarried, gay. I like cats, parrots, fish, and herpetiles. I'm one of those crazed vegan environmentalists who voted for Ralph Nader in the last presidential election here in the USA. Have I babbled enough?
