Also I increased the avatar size to 150x150. That should be plenty big.
Thanks Steve -- that worked.

Steve, FYI:

1) I don't use AOL, but I have to log in every time;

2) I don't see a link from the forum page back to the home page; and

3) The videos on the media page don't work for me.

Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me!

yeah steve, as Henry said, the media page links dont work, i dont know if they are meant to yet though.

I just tried deleting cookies and now i can visit the page for the new forums fine but after i login it gives me a page cannot be displayed

:|

anyone else getting that?

EDIT: ok i figured out why, after i logged in the link redirection redirected me to a url link which started with https instead of http, i proceeded to delete the s in https and it worked.

And..now i've tried to leave the site and come back and voila...i have to login again

To focus on a higher ideal and to really, really stay focused, because we are continually prompted to compare ourselves to others. For the benefit of learning, that can be great. But it's not good when it discourages you. You have to respect who you are because, at the end of the day, you are you - no matter where you go, how many different clothes you wear or how many new drums you buy; all of those things are just cosmetic - you're still there. So face it and deal with it. Because if you build your whole thing on being someone else, the floor could fall right out from under you at any moment. Play because you want to play, Love it and have fun doing it

Wow, thanks for noticing that. Getting rid of the "S" allowed me to login and disable the secure server setting so now it's up again. Thanks S.P.!

I'll continue to investigate the login issue.

UPDATE I've submitted a support topic at the PhpBB forums. The plot thickens.

no worries,

I think when i was registering for the forum i remember reading somewhere along the way that if i wanted to be remembered on the site (so that i was logged in all the time) i had to tick the box the first time i logged in which said remember me, but its never seemed to be at the login place.

Perhaps theres some option that lets you activate that tick box at the login page or add it somehow and perhaps then we will be automatically logged in

Hmm, thats strange, maybe its cos of what they said that u need a new version of the template for the phppb or whatever that your running.

I just encountered another problem, now that u increased avatar size to 150 i tried to modify my avatar to that size and then upload it onto my profile again and i get this message after i click submit, i get this on the website, its not a pop up or anything, and my image is 148 by 148 pixels and 8kb:

Warning: copy(./images/avatars/2641043cdbc5599d92.jpg): failed to open stream: Permission denied in d:\html\users\houseofdrummingcom\html\forums\includes\usercp_avatar.php on line 241

EDIT: i just tried putting my old avatar again which worked previously on the new forums and i get the same warning

OK the cookie issue is resolved. Please clear your cookies before verifying. I plan on switching to the new site within a day or so.

No response from Hostboard regarding an archive as of yet.

Steve -

Is it possible just to leave the Hostboard forum up and running, but simply lock out new topics? That way, Hostboard doesn't need to know that you're "retiring" this forum. We would still be able to search old topics as usual, but wouldn't be able to post new ones.

If inactivity is a problem (e.g. Hostboard automatically shuts down boards that haven't had any new posts over a certain window of time), we could have a "dummy" topic that a moderator posts to often enough to keep the Hostboard forum alive.

Just a thought...

OK as you can see we have made the switch. From now on please refer all forum activity to www.houseofdrumming.com/forums/

I'm closing out topics here on hostboard. I have inquired about purchasing the DB from them but they have not given me a definite answer. I will pursue it but I don't have my hopes up. As of now if someone wants to search for topics on Virgil, Novak, Zach, or whoever and cut and paiste a little FAQ on these guys we could put it as a sticky on the new forum so new guys can see what recordings to check out if they've just learned of them. Please email me if you plan to do this. That's it for now, see over at the new forums.

Thanks everyone for your patience, and support!

Hey Steve,

New domain looks great.

However I cannot get it to accept my password and username. Applying for a forgotten password seems to only kick back with a message stating I'm giving the wrong email address for the username I quote.

Something silly here I'm missing?

Cheers to you,

Gary H

Definitely don't want to leave you behind Gary! First try clearing your cookies in your browser (usually located under the options in either FF or IE). If you can't get it to send you your info, email directly and I'll send it to you. Sorry for the trouble. drumming@earthlink.net
