Why is Mattel selling "American Girl" dolls made in China???

Further! Why are they asking us to pay the same price for these Chinese girls as we are paying for the genuine American article?
Hint... GREED! ?)

Why are they not disclosing country of origin in their glossy brochures that find their way into our mailboxes, (and therefore our daughters hands) each and every month?

Can anyone give me a hint?
