I'm guessing you still can't access the site either, Melanie? Have you had a good day?

Since I can't hang out on the site all evening, I've been surfing the net and checked to see if OTS graduation had been changed on the site (I don't know why I thought that would have been updated already). But, I came across info. for ASBC. They must've posted this somewhat recently. It's awesome. They have ASBC dates and information on officers being "accompanied" as in spouses and children can stay in billeting with their hubbies. Looks like the first ASBC date isn't until January 10, so even if they had to go to ASBC shortly after OTS it wouldn't be immediately. Ya-hoo!

It was great in the begining and then I came home and now I am ordering pizza. My phone keeps dying and I took it up to Cingular and they said I need a new phone. MY current phone is through AT&T and Cing bought them out. They no longer carry AT&T phones. I would have to cancel my current contract "at no cost to me" (if I do they WILL be putting that in writing) but then I have to sign a new contract with them. They said all I would have to do is change my number to what ever is local where we move, and I can keep my current number. I know it sounds like a no brainer, but Ry and I have the same phones under the same contract and I would have to send him a new phone, his is in the car in AL for when he finally gets weekend passes. But they aren't allowed tohave cells and I don't want ot get him in trouble. Also what if we don't want to stay with them for another year? I need to ask Ry first. And now I am not sure he will be able to get through. I think it would be ok and when he is able to get weekend liberty I cna sen him the phone then. I think I am giving this more stress than it deserves. Radar was the start of this he took off today, and it makes me SO mad when he does that. He usually does it when E is sleeping, so I can't exactly go after him. Today E was awake, but I am tired of it. I was so ready to take him to the pound. If a police offcer happens to drive by while he is escaping it is a $350.00 fine. I love him so much and this (and some barking) is the only problem. I don't know why he does it, and I don't want to give up on him. IS this petty? I'm sure it is. But what if we move on base and he does this? It's not like I don't take him outside and play, we were at Peter's (the boy I babysit)house ALL day and he and Tayta were playing with their dogs ALL day. Even then my dogs kept jumping the fence to go to the front door, only to want to go outside again.
BUT other than that I had a very peaceful day sitting outside listening to the waterfall and watching the fish, and playing with Ethan soaking up the sunshine. oh and reading too. Ok I am going to order my pizza and pray a banana split will fall into my lap. I will be back. and on the AIM
Glo- do you have AIM? I wonder if we can all chat together?

No I don't have AIM, but I might look into it. Right now I have 15 bags of groceries calling me that need to be put away. We just spent 2 hours at Super Walmart and I got some really cool tiger stuff for the dayroom. I will get into all that later, let me get the groceries put away and watch Gilmore Girls and like Terminator Says "I'll Be Back!" Oh yeah I got the guys package mailed today, I forgot the Post Office was closed yesterday.

When Radar escapes does he come back of his own free will or do you really have to catch up with him? Lily is a flight risk; will not come back of her own volition. So I understand how big a pain in the butt that can be. The cell phone deal is kind of tricky... I would definitely wait and hope to hear from Ryan soon. Does he have his e-mail up and running? That's an idea.

Glo-- you mentioning the tiger stuff reminded me I don't think I shared all my finds with you gals. I made letters out of orange and black felt to say their class name, flight name, etc. The word TIGERS has tiger print on it. I also sent additional tiger print fabric (to cover the podium/cork board/whatever). I know I mentioned the tiger tails my grandma made. They are so cute! I also sent orange and black garland (Halloween colors really worked out well for us) to frame doorway/board/again whatever. I think that's it... Oh and a stuffed tiger that roars. Don't know if that will go over well with Nathan (a bit girly-- but so fun) and it was only 3 dollars. I had to get it.

I wish I had posted on the OTS site about Hostboard so the other women who didn't know about it could've joined us here for the meantime... Remind me to do that when it gets up and running again.

I also got some black and orange garland. I also found some orange indoor outdoor type Christmas lights. I found orange and black crepe paper, some palstic tigers and a stuffed tiger. I am also sending some playing cards, and a couple of B horror movies. Oh yeah I found a big poster of a fiercesome(SP?) looking tiger. I was going to send a boardgame or maybe bingo, but I don't know if they would want something like that. I will ask Gabe next time he calls. He said he thinks they are allowed to keep hard candy in the room so I sent some Jolly Ranchers. I also plan on sending butterscotch disks, cinnamon disks, and peppermints. I sent 21 full size assorted candy bars Hershey, Reeses, Kit Kat, Hershey w/ Almond and Smores. I sent 12 packs of Assorted Grandmas Homestyle Cookies for a total of 24 large cookies. I also sent individual packages of roasted salted peanuts. I plan on sending another box tomorrow with Nutty Buddy Bars, hard candies, little Debbie snack cakes assorted, and all the decorations I got.

The orange inside lights are a great find! I think they'll love that. And the treats are fantastic. Yum... I might have to go find some chocolate myself here in a minute.

Hey, well I am going to go to bed but I am glad to hear you sent great treats. I didn't send chocolate becuase I know they aren't suppose to have anything with caffine in it. I wasn't sure if chocolate counted- No, wait... yes, I did send some candy bars. I wish I could find stuff with tigers, I'm not kidding, I couldn't find ANYTHING, not even a stuffed toy. I am going to send that F-15 print though. Another questioon I have is how do oyu think we should dress for the swearing in ceremony, buisness casual or a dress? GLo, are your children going to pin him or are you? I wish E was old enough to do it, that'd be great. I'm scared I might start crying or something. Although I didn't cry at our wedding, I was too worried about Ryan, the whole church was. But I wont embarhass him anymore. I did cry when he graduated from FIT, I was so proud of him and so nervous about what was coming next. He's so great. He always strives to go beyond his best. I miss his laugh. Ahhh, my mood jsut got a lot better. I can't wait to meet everyone, and their husbands if they are anything like mine, and I am sure they are. They are definately men to be proud of, great husbands, fathers, boyfriends, and just wonderful people period. I am so proud of all of them. You guys have a wonderful night and I hope you dream of the one you love [Heart]

Oh believe me I will cry, I try not to but I am one of those people who wears her heart on her sleeve. It is an emotional thing so I say a few tears are OK. I wouldn't be shocked if Gabe gets a little choked up. His dad retired a Major in the USAF. He was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma when Gabe was 5 and he finally gave up fighting the disease when Gabe was 12. Gabe always felt guilty that he enlisted instead of getting his degree and becoming an officer. Well that no longer matters. I am so excited for all of us. I will probably cry enough for everybody there. I need to get to bed too, I am tired tonight as I am every night but I am not going to worry about getting the dishes done before I go to bed. It's OK to give myself a break sometimes. Anyways, here is to the site getting fixed. Sweet Dreams

Well, Ethan woke up at 6 and went back to sleep after a bottle. It's funny when he wakes up and he doesn't want too. He keeps his eyes closed and wrinkles his forehead and does this complaining whine with his thumb in his mouth. For the past few days when he wakes up for the morning I have put him in bed with me and held onto him so I can get just a few more minutes. He will be very still and quiet when he knows you are sleeping, very polite, and when you open your eyes he is always looking right into them and he smiles very big. I use to think waking up at the same time Ry does and looking at eachother at the same time was the best- still is great- but there's nothing like Ethan smiling at you in the morning. It just starts my day off great. [Heart]
Anyway, as of 0650, the site is still down. My phone died again last night so I have no way of knowing if Ry called. I am just going to have to get a new one. Ry will get over it or he will understand. I am going to check the mall today, maybe there is still an AT&T place there so all I would have to do is get a phone but I doubt it. Ry would assume I was sleeping so he wouldn't call the house- I don't think he would anyway. It will get worked out. Well, ladies I am going to do my chores and when Ethan wakes up I have to go feed the dogs and go by the library. I will talk to you later, I hope y'all have great days! [sun]

I love the quote, Melanie! I'm not sure which one I am today... It probably won't be hard to figure it out after a few hours of being awake. That's right. I slept in until 9:00. And it was wonderful! But now I'm bored. I guess it gives me time to do all those little things I've put off because I've been working daily.

Did anyone else get Sarah's e-mail about graduation? She said Devin told her it has been officially moved-- I like how she added that they reserve the right to move it. What a stinky thing for OTS to do. I think I'm a lucky one that I'm not buying a plane ticket, just driving. Are we going to move on the reserving of rooms? Maybe we should wait until we all get the go ahead from our men.

I can't wait to get info. about DEERS. That's going to make it seem very real to me. Whoo-hoo!

Yes, I got it too. I am going to wait until Ihear from Ryan. Gosh! I wonder when the site will come back [hmmm] I found a phone and this time the man was by himself and told me as long as Ry's phone still works I don't have to buy him a new phone and that it will still work under the new contract. It's weird signing a contract with out Ry being here, I guess I better get use to it. The phone is only 30 dollars, so that isn't bad. I have to sign up for a text messaging thing but he said after two months I can just cancel it. Glo, I am wondering and I am pretty sure I am right but, if we got staitioned over seas they cannot peanalize us for canceling our contract right? Like when you break a lease for the military. Ok I am going to get going. Will check in again later.

I've also heard about being able to cancel cell phone contracts due to military moves. Even within the U.S. if you move to an area that doesn't have service with that particular company... Do you all have the federal employee discount on your cell phone plans? We did that and it's saving us 20% off of our monthly bill. It's great.

We have Cingulair, and we were told that we aould be allowed to bow out of our contract w/o penalty if we get orders overseas. Gabe asked for this in writing, but they said it is an unwritten policy whatever that means. We have been customers with cingulair for over 5 years so if they give us guff about it Gabe will flip out. We just had to send a new 2 year agreement bc my phone was dieing too. We do get the government discount which is great. If you don't have theinfo Mel I will try to find it and send it to you. Gotta get the Gabster some lunch.

The way we got the discount was just calling to inquire about the Federal Communications Act of 1996 for federal employees. The cell phone company walked us through the rest. The only thing they really needed from Nathan was a military e-mail address.

I cannot stand feeling disconnected from everyone. The OTS site gets too much of my attention. That's really obvious to me today. Ahhh! [cry_smile] I miss it...

I will wait to get teh discount for when I get my ID, of I will call tomorrow when I call to cancel all of the stuff I was told I would "have" to sign up for because it's free the first 60 days yada yada yada and that way I would get a good deal on my phones. I think the phones I got are ugly, but they serve their purpose. Ok I am going NUTS with out the site. I guess I willwatch Jeff Corwin's Quest on the Animal planet and try again, then I will check back.

When that site crashes it really crashes. I hope it is back online by tomorrow morning. We will have to post this site as alternative for when the other site is down. Sorry but I have been being lazy all evening. I would have been chatting a lot more but Gaby and I fell asleep on the couch and I finally had tp pull myself up to get Glee in the bath and his bedtime snack ready before I put him to bed. I am feeling much more rested now, so I will try to get a few things done before I go to bed.

If the information Sarah has is right then since it is past midnight in the east, there are 54 days to graduation/ 52 days to the DO/ 50 days to the begining of Family week. Yippee!!! Brandee, if you are planning on driving when do you plan on leaving? Maybe we could carpool so you could drive back at least as far as Jacksonville w/ Nathan. I think you are about 6 hrs from us, and we are about 8 hours from Maxwell. Just a thought. Gotta get Gaby to bed. Talk to you in the morning. I will have to send my cell phone # to you guys because cingulair customers can gab for free. Yeah!!!

Glo- since I cannot PM you and it has been a few days whenever you get the pics will you e-mail them to me at pyar676@hotmail.com?

Brandee- I talked to Ry tonight and he said that Nathan is going to take his picture tomorrow.

Ryan hasn't had his security clearance yet. It's crazy. They have until midnight to study for their CWT. Their schedule is different than what is on Mat's site. Just by a little bit. He was tired so he was thinking negatively, it breaks my heart to hear him not have faith in himself, he does that before tests. Before he graduated he kept saying, don't get all excited I might not graduate- he graduated with honors. I tell you that man's father did a number on him, always putting doubts in his mind that he isn't good enough or smart enough ARGGGGG! Oh, he said that he asked today and was told they are still unsure about graduation. But only 62 days until the 13th. Will we be able to block rooms if we are all coming on different dates? I have never blocked rooms before so I am not sure. Oh gosh I am so nervous about his test tomorrow. Ok, Ineed a bubble bath and to go to bed. I will check up with y'all tomorrow. Goodnight and pray for their tests [Thumbs up]

Gabe's mom did a number on him. I don't think she thought he would ever make to where he has. He had a seaky girlfriend back in the day who ended up pregnant with another mans baby while he was away at basic and he was still going to marry her. Thankfully she was to indecisive and I walked into his life after a year and a half of her being unable to decide whta she wanted. That shows what self esteem he used to have. Nothing is ever good enough for his mom either. She will stand at the BBQ grill and say well that looks pretty good but if I were doing it I would do such and such. She doesn't even realize it. When Glee was born she was like, well I have never seen such a dark headed baby in all my life, especially in this family. I had to laugh bc I knew what she was insinuating. She still hasn't learned to have complete and total faith in him and he is a totally graown man. He now realizes the little things she says and does and can now let it go in one ear and out the other. I am sure as Nathan grows older and wiser, and particularly when he has kids of his own he will begin to realize how much power his dad HAD over him, that is HAD, whihc now he has the power to change with his children. I don't know what it is I know they love their children, they are just negative nellies who are set in thier ways, but Nathan will someday be able to take that power away and still love his father. Sorry I have rambled on so long.
