Weelllll, a certain fellow has been needling me to post some topics *w* & I'd like to &... I have some time (i.e.insomnia) tonight, so here's a starter..

To understand both art and life one must go back to the source of all things, and that is nature. Eliel Saarinen

Quotations... often timeless, intellectual or not, from comediennes/ans, literary notables, movie scripts, dirty, oops! I mean 'erotic' sources http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net/icon24.gif .. historical figures, musicians etc. even friends or acquaintances. They are passed on from person to person, through generations even, to help you through a private moment, comfort or inspire you, move you to laugh out loud, quietly reflect, perhaps unlock a memory, or run to scratch it down on a napkin.

I have several worn books of quotes I have gathered through the years...they are little treasures for the soul...*s*.. some dated, some not, during the time I heard, read or was given those succint words. Anyone else drink up a few well chosen words, in such a way? Lemme know.. http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net3/wink2.gif *runs to grab pen* *G

I can sympathize with peoples pain, but not with their pleasures. There is something curiously boring about somebody else's happiness.

Then everything includes itself in power,
Power into will, will into appetite;
And appetite, a universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce a universal prey,
And last eat himself up.

Each friend represents a world in us,
A world possibly not born until they arrive,
And it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

hey! blanca really likes Anais Nin.......she gave me a really beautiful excerpt once, in the pool, months ago......it was so lovely, i saved it (no bag lady comments!!!! *G)......here....

22:01:45) 崙ѕ : She came to my apartment to spend a few nights with me. She said she had bought the nightgown for a lover, but I saw a price tag still fastened on it.She was ravishing to look at because she was plump and her breasts showed where her white blouse opened. I saw her wild mouth parted, in a wild aureole around her head. Every gesture was one ofdisorder and violence, as if a lioness had come into the room. ~anais nin~

remember that, blanc? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

Don't forget to give credit to the original author/'scribbler' of the quote, otherwise you are in essence plagiarising http://smilecwm.tripod.com/net/icon25.gif and if ya don't know who wrote it just say anon/unknown etc..e.g "Some witch" (perfect!*G)...hmmm, I think i know that witch.. *cackle*

Man with all his noble qualities, with sympathy he feels for the most debased, with benevolence which extends not only to other men but to the humblest living creature, with his god-like intellect which has penetrated into the movements and constitution of the solar system - still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin.

Jealousy, the jaundice of the soul.
Beware the fury of a patient man.
For truth has such a face and such a mien
As to be lov'd needs only be seen.

A man is a God in ruins.
Character is higher than intellect.
Immortality. I notice that as soon as writers broach this question
they begin to quote. I hate quotation. Tell me what you know.
To believe your own thought, to believe that
what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men- that is genius.
It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion;
it is easy in solitude to live after our own;
but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.
A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature.
There is then creative reading as well as creative writing.
Art is a jealous mistress.

we each have 3 children, and we live within 2 blocks from each other in the town we grew up in, and even though we get the kids together, talk on the phone and even meet in here, it's not the same as 'triple trouble' out on the town, as it was when we were teens and 20's........but when we can, *EG look out!......*L

Soon as the evening shades prevail,
The moon takes up the wondrous tale,
And nightly to the listening earth,
Repeats the story of her birth:

Whilst all the stars that round her burn,
And all the planets, in their turn,
Confirm the tidings as they roll,
And Spread the truth from pole to pole.

Joseph Addison.
