    Re: Region D Baseball Championships

They never could get out of regionals in the late 90s. In what was Blake Whitenake's last year as HC (95 or 96), they lost in the regional final to make go on the road and lose in substate play.

I would guess it would have been SP in 90 - 92 range they may have won the regions, but Wise was strong that time as well, so I am not sure when the last time a CD team would have won the regional title.

'95 was Coeburn. It seems like they made a huge comeback against PV in the finals and went on to get screwed out of a state championship up in Brentsville.

    Re: Region D Baseball Championships

    Makes sense.

The VHSL record book is showing that Brentsville won the state championship in 1995, beating Coeburn 3-2.

Coeburn won state in 1975 and 1978.

    Re: Region D Baseball Championships

I think it was Kelly in 99 and Coeburn in 2000. I remember when Chad Longworth and company were freshman they lost to Glenvar at Kelly in the quarter-finals. I think Coeburn won the next year and also lost to Glenvar at home in the quarter-finals.

    Re: Region D Baseball Championships

That sounds about right with Kelly losing at John Battle I believe in 00 in substate play.

I'm pretty sure 99 was Kelly. Longworth would've been a freshman on that team. As for 2000, Im not sure.

Yep, I remember now that 2000 was Coeburn. They beat Kelly in the Region D finals. Pretty good Coeburn team that year.
