Re: Boxing/MMA Fights - local, national, world

Just days after Strikeforce rocked the MMA world with news that they had signed Fedor Emelianenko, they picked up another great fighter in Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. He's a submission specialist, and has battled Jason "Mayhem"Miller on two occasions, winning once, and having one fight end in a no contest.

"I am very excited that I will have the opportunity to fight in Strikeforce amongst many of the world's best middleweight fighters," said the 29-year-old Souza. "Strikeforce has an extremely deep roster of top middleweight fighters. I am looking forward to the challenge and to taking my career to the next level."

Now, he will join Strikeforce as a middleweight, where he will hopefully face Jake Shields, who also has strong jiu-jitsu. Signing with Strikeforce could also set up a rematch with Gegard Mousasi, who is one of two men to have beaten Jacare. Mousasi is fighting Renato "Babalu" Sobral on August 15 for the Strikeforce light heavyweight title, but movement between middleweight and light heavyweight is common; in fact, the UFC's middleweight champ Anderson Silva is moving up to light heavyweight to face Forrest Griffin this weekend.

Strikeforce is also reportedly working on a deal with the Japanese promotion Dream to exchange fighters. This could create a revolving door between fighters in Japan and the U.S., and make fighting for Strikeforce or Dream quite attractive. Fighters would no longer have to decide between fighting in Japan or the U.S. when choosing a promotion to sign with. American fighters like Miller and Joe Warren could fight in front of a home crowd, while Japanese fighters, like lightweight Shinya Aoki, can try to become popular in the U.S.

Jacare will make his debut "in the fall," the same time table that was set for the Emelianenko Strikeforce debut.

Silva made Griffin look sad... Anderson Silva is fantastic, and just showed how great he is.
I'm sorry, but Forrest got knocked out with the same jab that poor Kimbo got knocked out with.. haha
