I think that's something decided by more than just the coach himself.
Im new on this forum but im a huge fan of swva football. Ive followed it since i was young and watched the glory teams of the 80s and 90s at pv and appy (as well as the rest of the tough lpd). I know the caliber of atheletes isnt what it was but in the past couple of years it seems to be getting better. My main concern is can Travis Turner lead Union into football glory? PV and Appy have HUGE pasts in the sport with something like 12 state championships out of 17 or so visits. Can he become a coach with a reputation of winning like great LPD coaches of the past and present? what do yall think

i totally agree. Its mainly up to the young men on the field. I talked with coach turner and he told me that he has approxiamtly 50 young men coming and working out on a daily basis (which is up conciderably from the past 5 or so years) and they seemed to be motivated. I hope they pull together and play hard. idk if youre familiar with some of the roster but you can go to youtube and check out a video of a strong athelete. Its listed under josh chandler squatting 500 lbs. This young man is a hose in the weight room and a leader both on and off the field.
I do hope they succeed. It's going to be fun to watch and see how the program develops!
From what I'm hearing it's looking real good so far. This comes from people who work with the team and from parents from both BSG and Appalachia. To say it's early is an understatement but everything seems to be going real well so far.

I was at the parents meeting the other night and he (Turner) had his stuff together.
