the Eastside Spartan Girls that rallied today against Stuarts Draft down a set to win the next two sets and advance to the state title game tomorrow? This might be the first out of our consolidated schools to win a state ring in the first year! I'm extremely proud of these ladies, this would be HUGE for Eastside.

They actually won 3 straight after dropping the 1st one, also they were down 11-5 in the 2nd.

They have a tough test against 29-0 Mathews tomorrow, I hope they can pull it off.

If you ask me.... even if they finish as State Runnerup....thats a huge accomplishment and also is huge for the school......especially in its first year as a consolidated high school. State Champs would be great! But being the State Runnerup aint no joke either.

Yeah, I agree.. Definitely an accomplishment for a first-year school. Great job, either way it goes.

Eastside carries 6 seniors on its squad, while Mathews has 2. Neither team has lost to a Virginia team this season. Mathews (29-0) is undefeated. Both losses by Eastside (26-2) came at the hands of Group AAA schools from Tennessee. The last time a team from Coeburn was in a state final game was the Group A baseball championship in 1995. Coeburn baseball won two baseball state titles in 1975 and '79. Those are the only two athletic team state titles won by either Coeburn or St. Paul high schools.

Reposted tidbit, warmups are starting, should be a great match.

If there is, I don't know it since football is going strong today. Matthews takes first set, 25-20. Set was back and forth, big second set coming up. They aren't outmatched at all, they can win this title!
