Buzzer Goes off During Play Question

I know that if the buzzer goes that play continues. However, what if there is a player at the table ready to check in? Tonight, this happened and the player came onto the floor as the team continued playing and scored a basket. The officials counted the basket and did not issue a technical foul. It is in my opinion that by the rule the team with six players on the floor should have received a technical and no basket. It is in my opinion that the officials should have stopped the game, allowed the player to check in, and not called the technical or awarded the two point basket.

Excellent question and a tough situation. I kind of agree with you opinion on the subject, although really I think play should have been stopped at the buzzer if there wasn't something like a break away, but the player should have to stay at the scorers table as play resumes until a natural issue causes play to become dead so that they would enter as normal.

I was at the game in question and play was going on when the buzzer went off. Seem like they had clock problems during both games. That was why the basket counted.

By the rule book, the officials should have called a technical foul on Lee High. They decided not to penalize Lee High for the buzzer, my argument was they penalized PV. As I've said, they should have stopped the game and not called a technical or allowed the basket.
