Any Super 8 50-ft silent film cartridge will work with this camera. Super 8 is a gauge of film, so any Super 8 camera will accept any Super 8 film (with the exception of sound film, which isn't produced anymore, and 200 ft cartridges, which also aren't produced anymore.) As far as I know, all cameras that could take sound or larger cartridges could also take the smaller/silent ones. Basically, any modern type of Super 8 film that you can buy today will work with this camera.

what astrasled said is true, but you need to check whether your camera will automatically meter the film-stock you want to use.

from what i can see on super8wiki.com your camera should be ok with ektachrome 100d, kodak vision3 200t, plus-x or tri-x.

but i'm not 100% sure, sorry

That camera will automatically meter your film stock so you should be fine.

I wouldn't go that far. The Minolta XL-401 is a nice camera but I wouldn't call it "one of the best." It's certainly a great camera for a beginner, though.
