Rudy, I think they are the same thing with two different names. Sixlet could be short for Sextuplet etc.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Isn't 6 over 2 just a triplet? Anyway, I think Greasleg is probably right. A fivelet is probably the same thing as a quintuplet - ie: subdividing a quarter note into 5's.

Oh I'm not disputing greaselegs post at all regarding sixlets, sevenlets, etc existing and being the same as tuplets.

Just wondering about the other bit.

Well, a regular 1/8th note triplet would be 3 over 2, and since a sextuplet is basically a doubled up 1/8th note triplet ( or six 1/16th notes in the same space ), I guess 6 over 2 is a sextuplet.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">An 8th note triplet is 3 over 1 quarter note = 6 over 2 quarter notes. A sixlet/sextuplet is all still triplets no matter how you want to look at it. Even if you subdivide quarternotes by 6 that would still be 16th note triplets.

Ok, my brains sort of functioning now I think, greaseleg is right about the 6 over 4.

3 over 2 for 1/8 note triplets because of the 1/8 note triplet fitting into the space of
    2 regular 1/8 notes, and,

6 over 4 for sextuplets because it's six 1/16th notes fitting into the space of 4 regular 1/16th notes.

You gotta chris, it's great for practising with. So easy to carry around, ( compared to old CD walkmans ), and the moment you're behind a kit, you can just turn it on and play along. Have mine clipped all the time to my belt, and inears in my pocket. I have a regular mini, not the nano.

Louie and I noticed that weckl at his clinic was using his ipod for playing to his tunes.
