Lost Threads / Missing Links and Failsafe

Hi I understand that hostboard had some issues and thats meant links have stopped working and much of the historic posts have gone. Is this temporary? Or permanent? If the latter long time posters / lurkers may remember someone saved all the posts a few years back as a failsafe (unless I imagined it!). Can anyone recall where that is- and maybe provide a link to XP / the board?

Hi there. The issue is not permanent. What has happened is that after the hardware issue, the threads are all still there, but somehow the code is not accessing them past a certain point. I've spoken to Steven and he and his devs are working on figuring out how to get the access back to normal. Unfortunately there is no timelime for this as it's a completely new issue so they don't know how long a fix of this kind will take. Hopefully we will be back to 100% soon.

As for backups on our end, I have a backup from 2012 and then one I made of the incomplete forum a few days ago to get the new threads. I plan to fully back things up every couple weeks from now on, though, just in case.

The archive is also interesting, on the one hand, it perfectly indexes every topic that was opened here in recent days on the 3rd page of your forum archive, but the first page that I looked at is more of a mess, it has one story from 2002, a different one from 2005, your looking for Canuks topic from 2003 or others from 2012. All in all, the fresh topics in the archive are indexed better, than here, so... that's a good sign?

I don't expect an ETA as every board is affected, but a progress update would be nice.

Sorry to bring this up, and I am not sure if it's just me, but it appears as though the board itself stops on July 29th 2016. I can't seem to access stories before that period.

Yes, unfortunately the issue still hasn't been fixed.
