I've started a story on the pro style board a few weeks back that is based on a real conflict where the 2 women fight out of accusal of wrongdoing with lethal consequences, so it had to be at the back of my mind when I replied, in my opinion it just makes characters more human and not a subset to a story. Whether I like it or not, conflicting ideas seem to come to a head again with each other over self protection and social behavior, which, especially for women, intersect regularly.
I've been contemplating the idea, if I should submit a story focused on a woman, who's conflicted over her brother's guilty conviction for assault, placing family over conscience and confronting the assaulted woman's sister. After Natalie Wood died, a very similar thing happened at the shooting of a James Bond movie, so it's still kinda topical.
