    Vocabulary Lesson

I recently read an interesting article in The New Yorker magazine about paper jams in printers. Below is an excerpt from the article:

"In the largest sense, jamming is a problem in a field called tribology - the study of friction, lubrication, and wear between interacting surfaces. . . . (The term 'tribology' . . comes from the Greek verb 'to rub.') . The smooth functioning of the world depends on invisible tribological improvements."

    23times3,

Good gracious! I'm a "tribologist" and I never knew it!

For all these years that I've been reading, studying video clips, flipping through sticky pages of adult magazines and now, finally writing, I've actually been contributing to the "smooth functioning of mankind,? by making ?invisible tribological improvements?? Wow!

I hope the Nobel committee knows how to get in touch with me.

    Re: Vocabulary Lesson

It's nice seeing you again Ginny To throw in my hat on misleading terms, my new favorite term is silviculture, which is neither a study of Sylvias, or offers insight into the silver trade, but the field of forestry concerning sustainable logging and processing. Though, at least in one language wood transporter sounds exactly the same as penis erector, to the endless delight of juvenile souls.
