Somebody should write a non-fiction book about .....

the different wrestling/sexfighting scenes or video production companies. i would be particularly interested in knowing about dww. they made the strangest and most fulfilling videos with interesting settings. im sure there are some insiders who visited this forum. or are still around. it would be great to know how women are hired. how and where the videos were shot. the exploitation aspect. love affairs etc.

I must start with the obvious, as it's mostly an over/under thing. The rate for writing a book on any subject, when the author isn't that talented or is new to the business is 15k, regardless of length, which pretty much excludes the product being an actual book. If you think about it, a thousand or two thousand fans would have to band together to make it a reality.

Just as a wayside, non-fiction books do not, under any circumstances, glorify exploitation, or be as salacious as to dish about love affairs, that's pulp fiction. Since today data protection has become more strict for anyone doing business in the EU, so it's not very likely they would reveal how and where they hire. Even if they could, the probably wouldn't to protect the women from creeps.

i understand. but it can be an anonymous insiders account with fake names which only the fans would understand. it would have to be a labor of love.

And again, think back on Fire and Fury. The author has a flair for sensationalism, so some parts were of course embellished, yet he did get valid access to every area. Even so, after reading the finished product, and it become a bestseller, the author was still being sued. In other words never underestimate how much people can dislike reading the truth about themselves.

Anybody who's credible, will ask a writer, or more likely their publisher for a portfolio, and if they're talented, but lesser known, it's not uncommon they ask for a secondary contact through which they can influence what the publisher can put into the book. To compare, take Leonard Bernstein. He wrote All the President's men with his coauthor Woodward, where the subject was of national interest, so naturally there were fewer hoops (though of course they still lawyered up), but about a good decade later he wrote a book about John Belushi, that formed the foundation for a movie called Wired, and he did not interview anybody in person, just took secondary accounts. Now that's a recipe for getting sued.

What you could do is write a fictional account about fictional people in companies, carefully weighing in how recognizable it can get legally without drawing ire from anyone involved. Writing a tell all is always for people who have a built up reputation to risk, so they're protected.

i guess you are right. maybe i should write about what went on behind the scenes using my imagination. it could be narrated from the point of view of two girls.

What I do in a situation like that isn't simply replacing a company name with a soundalike, but go behind and find the essence why it was named as such and then come up with my own.

i really dont have any sources. i live outside the US and europe. i guess danube womens wrestling was named as such because most of the videos were shot in and around the danube valley and river. no deep meaning there? do correct me if im wrong.

Originally DWW stood for the fact that the HQ was in Vienna, had strong connections to Germany and recruited girls from around the countries where the Danube was flowing. If this was nostalgia toward a long held but ultimately failed dream (which the Nazis tried to realize) to unite under a Germanic flag... possibly a long shot. In any circumstances as they grew, their videos started to include girls from Russia and they toured the US as well.

Now the main reason to write fiction is twofold: one, like a lesser known club contracted with one in the Champions Cup, these countries were always but feeders (it's a soccer term for an unequal relationship where the lesser known club supplies players nurtured at their own cost in exchange for the brand) so finding sources that'd corroborate the background is hard. Especially now that such countries took a deep nationalistic turn and attraction to nonregular porn like catfight is shunned upon. The other reason is, that I know of 2 scandals that happened, one where the old DWW was forced to gelock its site so that certain customers cyberstalking their girls cannot contact them, and the other where some wrestlers claimed to have been sexually abused and offered up to paying customers.

One thing born Westerners don't like to acknowledge is that sex tourism and sexual slavery is a thing, so countries in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia are frequented for such reasons. Not the type of crowd you'd like to interview even if you could since you can't find out how embedded they're with the mob, and even regular civilians would not admit they participated in criminal activity. I can't and won't claim that this is why such a book was never written but as they say, better to be safe, than sorry.

Re: Somebody should write a non-fiction book about .....

One needs to be a signed author with a publishing house's legal team behind them to go and actually write that it happened as authorities with whom such reports were filed cooperate with them. The cold hard truth is that such pieces appeared in tabloids, not really in more respected newspapers as criminal cases. This was almost 2 decades ago, so even if there was truth to it, the public did not support it. A major draw was these countries were only aspiring EU members so in exchange for the promise of better payment, a letter of intent was more enticing than other options on the table. Some of DWW's girls have exactly for that reason learned English and/or German to be their own managers.

So, if I were to write I'd call it Inter European Wrestling League where the girls were supplied by Kosovar, maybe Bulgarian and Russian handlers. That way you can talk about facts verified from other cases in a setting that never happened. The other thing you can more freely write as it's not something that's being denied, many LGBTQ+ ends up in the sex industry so if some of them turn wrestlers, yes it's very possible they had lesbian or bisexual relations. There were also a lot of nationalistic tension as well. Some of the authentic aggression against Russian wrestlers in the early 21st century came from a desire to take revenge for the multiple decades of military occupation and indoctrination.
