By the way, trail by combat, judicial combat, was a LEGAL way to settle disputes for rich and poor in the Middle Ages. Men and Women would fight this way too. It is WILD the way they did it. They would bury the man and woman waist deep, about a yard apart, and the couple would pummel and bite each other until one was either dead or declared the winner. NO LIE!
Sometimes only the male was buried, as a handicap:The theory behind trial by combat [wager of battle] went something like this: Nothing happened in this world without the God's knowledge; everything that happened in this world happened because it was God's will. God wanted justice and right to prevail. Hence, God would involve Godself in the judicial combat to ensure that the victory went to the person who was right.

As the board currently is already in disarray, it shouldn't matter, if I reply to this one...
Dear Ted,
That's actually a form of Swiss wrestling, where one of the opponents is in the hole, usually the more skilled one, so that the entertainment level stays as exciting. It only gets more depressing, if you spare a thought to the fact that this is the time without commodities of civilization, where lack thereof led to death without any fighting and they still found ways to kill each other.
