Hi Treatmaker and Fatandsassy!
I am using beeswax on the floor. The local paint store stocks a brand called LIVOS, it's from Germany. Expensive for a can, but I do believe it will last my lifetime. Ha is right, you just touch up. I am working on my second coat of wax right now for extra protection, because, Fatandsassy, I am messy and dropping things all the time too. The wax just makes it bead right up until you wipe it up, it's wonderful. We're dealing with a messy puppy too - no problems on the floor.
We coated with a high quality waterbased poly underneath the wax.
Ha is right. I wonder why I didn't do this before, and almost wish the rest of the house didn't have hardwood flooring...
Regards,

Once you have a good solid wax base on the floors, you can bring the floors back up to full luster with just a quick buffing with your electric floor polisher.

Just want you to know that I had to shut the gas valve off, which is located behind my stove. I just gave the 400+ pound behemoth a shove with my hand and it just slid on those sliders like it was on wheels. I highly recommend those sliders to anyone who needs to occasionally get behind their stove.
Best to all,
