I am the second owner of these after receiving them from my Dad (the original owner) as a college graduation gift. At the time, I couldn't understand why he couldn't appreciate them any more with his hearing, but now that I'm about the age he was, I get it.

This is a pair of Walnut speakers, well cared-for, but with some age as expected for 30+ years. Everything is 100% original including the foam around the horns. Some snags in the cloth, a couple of broken (but repaired) cover struts, and maybe one very small stain on the top. Frankly, they are beautiful for the age. And the sound is still amazing to anyone who hears them.

If you can get to Raleigh and pick them up, I'll part with them for $950. From my research, this is probably a steal, maybe I'll get IDIOT of the year for it. But, its fair, they will need some work if you want them perfect (foam, recone, etc) that the new owner can decide to do, or not. Still, you'll get a deal! If I have to ship, we'll talk. I won't charge any more than cost as long as it doesn't take me two weeks of effort to figure out how to do it.

The only catch besides coming to get them is that I would love to hear how you're enjoying them once they're settled in their new home. They've been a part of the family for 30+ years! But now its time for others to enjoy them.

I don't have pictures yet, but if you reply, I'll be happy to take and send to you.

I now have pictures of these if you're interested. In doing so, I found that the "stain" is almost invisible, I couldn't get a picture of it. I know its there, that's why I mentioned it. Also, the foam around the horns definitely needs replacement. Other than that, they are as originally described, in excellent cosmetic and functional condition, needing only the expected (foam, maybe recone) to bring them to original condition.

Glad you found an Altec fan to buy them.....sort of keeps it in the family.
And we know the family history of yours.
    We appreciate the opportunity.
    Ron
