I don't get no slide show and besides, people from Oregon should not be playing with Altecs......Ha!
How's it going Mike?

These are the very nice Vals I got from a friend a couple of weeks ago. I pulled the crossovers and installed a board with two sets of connectors so I can bi-amp these like I did with my 846A's with the beat up cabinets.
Everything can be switched back with no damage to the original setup. I may in the future switch the 806 compression drivers out for some 902's which will fit inside the cabinets. The 802's would require cutting a hole in the back of the cabinet and building a cover.
For amplifiers I have a MC-275 powering the 811B horns and a MC-2205 running the 416 woofers. As for listening, the only difference I hear between the A & B models is the B seems to have slightly more bass presence. Some claim they can hear the ports breathing on the B model but so far I haven't heard anything like that.
I'm just thrilled to have cabinets I don't have to cover with pieces of carpet.
Here are some pictures I took as I went along.
Click on the picture and it'll take you to a slideshow. Move your mouse around the bottom right corner of the picture and the forward-stop-backwards buttons will illuminate so you can control the slideshow.

Hi Mike,
I also have a nice pair of 846B's. I bought mine new in 1975. Right now I am powering them with an MX110 and an MC240. They are box stock but I have been considering the 902 up grade myself. I would also need to consider a XO upgrade as well since the original N800's are considered minimal.
I admit I'm ignorant with the technical stuff. I'm just looking for suggestions for a good replacement.
Please keep posting your progress.
Thanks...
After swapping to 802/902, the cheap & easy biamp mod would use the 30923 biampable network for the shelving that will take full advantage of the switch.

Doesn't work for me either, but this one does where I can view the slideshow: Stereo Equipment :: Bi-amping Altec Valencias. slideshow by Mike_Gibson - Photobucket

You're welcome! Don't have a clue, I'm not much of a computer geek. All I did was get to your album and try the different links available to see if I could get any of them to work as a slide-show in a new message and when I couldn't, posted the link.
Just tried in I.E. and it didn't work either.
