The decoration strikes a spot in my past, the set at the roller rink I frequented as a kid had moons and stars. Pretty cool on the "couples skate" with ol' Hank crying in his beer on the "far out" A7s when the mirror ball was spinnin'. :flagwaver:

Whoaa...flashback! I just remembered the "DJ booth" at the rink (shudder), a scene straight from Valkanvania. There was a desk up on a shaky platform with an old guy (barely visible thru his cigar smoke) playing 45s. A pile of tube stuff barely lit his corner. I remember the old Army stretcher he had on the wall. Cheery fellow in a Freddy Kreuger kinda way.

Here's a story for you Australians (I love your country!). Lansing Manufacturing Company advertised in the late 1930s that one of their smaller Lansing Shearer Horn systems was installed in King's Theatre in Sydney. This theatre was located in the Bondi district across the street from the beach. My friend who lives in Sydney had grown up nearby and frequently went to the movies there as a boy. By the late 1970s the theatre had been converted to a disco, and he worked on the audio system there. The old Shearer system was stored off to the side, and he could have probably had it for the taking, but had no interest at the time. He showed me the theatre's location when I visited Sydney about seven years ago, but there is no trace left anymore as the block has been rebuilt.

Nice to have a 'decko'(Re: Have a decko) at the Deco era. Once the local sound companies got into the game the government preferential(British Commonwealth) tariff protections would kill U.S. imports, except for the occasional discerning user. Thus not a lot of U.S. theatre gear made it here.
