    N-500-G crossover rebuild questions

At the suggestion of Altec Best, I will pose a question for the experts on this forum.

Currently, I have a pair of Magnificents with the N-500-G crossovers. I should take a pic for you to verify, but I'd hate to move these behemoths less I scratch our wooden floors and have to hear about it. As far as I can remember there are different iterations of this xover, but how am I supposed to tell with all the tar goo in the xover cases? Basically, the caps and resistors must be way out of spec because I'm having to EQ these speaks just a little to get them to sound right and I don't like having to do that. Does anyone manufacture a current set of xovers I can use or will I need to build a set? Anyone have the schematics or done this before?

    Many thanks in advance!

Tube heres a thread about those tar-filled crossovers they are pretty much a PIA to service if at all.I know you have to heat the tar up and try to scrap it out.Have to be very careful and patient. You have to look for a schematic,it maybe easier to build from scratch.VOTT rebuilt a pair I think maybe he can chime in here.

I kinda figured that I would have to build them. Also, I found the schematic on the Atlec Pro site. Yea for helping myself!

The Magnificents were model A7-500W. Those I believe are all 16 as you say. Later models were Magnificent II, or model A7-500W-II. I think those could be ordered either 8 or 16. The wood grilles are slightly different.

Magnificent II are not common, way more of the first model were sold.
