    OK. I'll try these from JEL site. 3/4" birch plywood. Thinking of moving speaker hole 3" laterally so not equidistant from sides.

    If I needed a pair of test mules, I'd be tempted to use a good grade of building plywood or might even endure the dust of MDF rather than buying Baltic Birch. If you plan to keep the OB stands, then, by all means, proceed as planned. I've been down that OB rabbit hole and now I consider it a waste of good wood, for the most part. I know some folks buy woofers designed for the use (Hawthorns) but most hifi woofers benefit from enclosures.

    Thanks for response Westend9:

    I mentioned birch plywood- not Baltic birch. I think it's pretty cheap at Home Depot- but, if not, I would consider the regular plywood or MDF like you say.

    I'm not afraid of trying something weird- my problem is I have too little space- 606's, 620's would actually take up much less footprint.

    What speaker were you using with your OB's?
