I LIKED your "oval" shaped port. There is some real advantages to that shape, but I am not sure myself, what they are. It was originally used by my audio mentor in the early 1980s, and I have his patient application papers on it. The Bob Fulton ( 1925-1988 ) "oval window". Bob was a Minneapolis trumpet player and choir director, and he LOVED the oval shape as a speaker port. Bob designed trumpet mouthpieces, which is done by ear, and he developed Fulton Lightning Oil for trumpet and brass valves.

Great, at least for me,.......... to see that oval port.

Bob's larger speaker design was plus or minus 2 dB from 12 HZ to 80 kHZ, a seven-way Fulton Premiere, model P-12 through P-22. Nice design job on your part !!!

Photobucket won't let me view the pics, it causes the computer's processor to run at 100%, locking it up, but 'sound is round', so if it must be reshaped, then squashing it to an oval causes the least distortion and will maintain its shape over a longer distance than any with flat planes. Like with round, this is fine when there's only one source, but not so much for multiples, particularly off axis; though with reflex vents it's moot due to its narrow LF BW as long as it's sufficiently large enough to keep vent mach low.

    More pics....

Here's a pic of the port structure. I'll have three ways to tune the cabinet...no cutout panel, panel with oval, and solid panel.

Finally got the pieces all cut and picked up today...gee they look good.

Going to be a VERY sturdy cabinet.

Tried to look at the files but it stated that I don't have permission. Would like to see how they turned out.

Yes for me too.. It seems you have to register for an account to view the pics.Maybe you can upload them to a photo sharing site and then post them here ?

Let's try photo bucket again...though GM said his links didn't work last time.

I had a bit of fun with the CNC on the baffle...pity it won't be seen.

The speaker should glue up together nice and quickly, especially with all the rebates and curved supports. Even the screw holes have all been CNC'd.
