    Re: Nice looking early A7-500s

That was my first thought, though if they are, the wood grain implies cabs made from the same utility plywood used at that time, which is decidedly different from what I've ever been around, so am guessing these have been stripped as they have that 'look' in some areas. You can see the same grain pattern through the paint of this original, much larger, A5 that predates it by a few years:

As for the components, there was an early 820 with just as pristine units on ebay some years ago, so while rare, they do exist, such as my mid '50s re-coned 515Bs.

Some of the components are later versions, esp for the 803B, as its the sticker label not the see through larger label. Though the made in USA stamp on the 511Bs is early.
But yes pristine examples exist, and command good money.
I'd grab the components if they were up, they're nice. Not fussed on the wood. Might have to paint it black.....

    Re: Nice looking early A7-500s

There's little doubt in my mind that the cabinets are legit, somebody spent a hell of a lot of time and effort to strip them. You can still see a few deep dings and gouges that have some paint left in them.

There's something fishy about ALL of this seller's offerings. Things are "too clean", and i seldom look at his stuff other than to try to spot the sham.

Some of the components are later versions,
IMO, all of the components are a decade newer than the cabinets. The woofers are date coded 1964, and i'd agree that the other internals are from the same vintage.

AFAIK, all 803B woofers had the small foilcal. IMO, correct vintage components for those cabinets would have all had water transfer decals and gray finish

Nice-looking is right. The seller (carefully) makes no claim of original components, but everything sure is clean. Are you guys thinking that the cabinets are early 1950s?
Interesting that it is cheaper to ship to Shanghai than east coast US.

That is my gut feeling on the cabinets.

Yeah, didn't even look at those pics carefully and AFAIK it didn't come along until after the vertical port cabs were revised.......... me neither, just appreciate all the effort that I wouldn't be willing to make.

Hmm, I looked very carefully again just now and still don't see detail this fine. My corrected vision is good enough AFAIK and this ~new 1080P Dell 23" wide screen monitor is supposedly well above average, but the video card is a typical one found in a 2000 XP Pro computer, so will a better one help and if so, any clues as to what I should buy?

I always tend to remember the vent revision being done by '56 when I got serious as any 10 yr old can about a hobby after a neighbor who mainly concentrated on the electronics side of it gave up trying to interest me and gave me Cohen's HIFI LOUDSPEAKERS and ENCLOSURES for Christmas for me/us to learn to DIY the other half of an audio system.

That said, what little old literature I still have or can find on the net tells me if my memory is wrong or not. For sure, it?s still around in ?54 and gone in ?59:
