Yeah, but that's a lot of sound for someone that is not into DIYing...And still has wood grain paneling and shag carpet in the den.

    I know that's a scary number.

    But, parted out....................

Grills 500, maybe more iif they're as good as they look

    Cabinets 1500

    Internals 1000

Condition being everything, i can see 3 grand for those.

Kenrick Sound would easily get double that.

Kenrick Sound is strictly JBL AFAIK.. BTW Kenrick Sound is in Japan.. This pair is in Roswell,Georgia big difference IMHO..

I think $1500 for the cabs and $500 for grills is way high...That's 2 $G's right there.I have never seen cabinets sell for more than the components on any brand. And you have them doubling the value of the components.. I think you will be hard pressed to find anyone who will pay that amount for just cabs and grills.

That is ($2999) about $1000 more than the value of 19's IMO.. I just think the 19's sound better than the Magnificents..I only ever had the privilege of hearing them a couple times..They do sound great. But I personally like the 19's better...Just my own personal taste..I'm sure there are others who like the Magnificents better..To each his own I always say.. YMMV.

The game is global now when it comes to vintage hifi collectibles. Clean Magnificents fall into that category.

Again, condition is everything with the furniture.

I don't record the data, but i've watched Altecs on ebay since 1997. That pair of Magnificent cabinets empty, would bring 1500 on ebay with a BIN, an auction would likely push them higher. They have sold for that in the past.

My guesstimate on the grills is conservative as well. IF they are pristine, they would likely fetch over 500 without much trouble.

Barcelona cabinets, empty will bring 1500, as they have in the past.

Nineteens do not represent the cabinet craftsmanship of the above models, and they were produced in much higher numbers which tends to keep them a bit undervalued comparatively. Yes, all things considered, Nineteens are undervalued and still a hifi bargain in terms of their performance. Their value is driven differently than the "furniture" models. Sonically, you will spend a LOT of money to get markedly better than the Nineteen.

Consider that plywood 620 reproduction cabinets are currently SELLING on ebay for 750/pr less grills. Hire a pair of proper 620 grills made and fitted, you won't do it for less than 5 bills.

Yeah everything is relative.. However this auction is local pickup only so isn't available globally.. And I have seen Barcelona's in mint shape with original components go unsold for $1500.. What is true today won't necessarily be tomorrow and vice versa....
