I am using my 817's with JBL 2360 horns and Renkus 3301 drivers. I am biamping them with Ashly FTX-2001 amps. I have two JBL 2242 woofers for the bottom end.
Total of 4 Ashly 2001 amps. Its alot of power and sounds pretty good!

Are you still using the Altec woofers in the 817's?

They are set up in the garage. My wife lets me have Altec's in the house but they are much smaller.

I am still using the 921's that were in the 817's. I am toying around with the idea of putting some 416's or 515's in them though. And yes those Ashly mosfet amps have plenty of power for those cabs. If I put some 8 ohm woofers in and run them as 4 ohm cabs I could double my power in.

Slightly OT, but I couldn't resist....The Altec Mancave Theatre is now open...





Now I just gotta figger out what to do the the center channel. Unfortunately the screen is not sonically transparent.

BTW, if you could use an extra set of 816 cab, I have a spare pair....

You all are such wimps. I've been spending a LOT of time over the past 5.5 years in the mancave, and I haven't had any sort of respiratory problems. Long as you don't screw with the pink stuff, it's not going to spontaneously fragment and spit micro molecules into the air. As for dust, it's a mancave. It's got lots of spider webs to help soak up the dust and the stray mosquito....

I use the dust and spiderwebs in my mancave (garage) as acoustic insulation. Why pay the high prices for roxul or OC 703?
