I think this needs even more emphasis.One thing I did notice in a pic. in this thread is that the cab has voids showing in the plywood edges. Seems wrong to me for a high profile sample.
I'm hardly a professional cabinet builder. But, i have various types of filler including Bondo, as well as edge-banding in birch, oak, and walnut. I would never leave a raw edge exposed like that. It would seem that anyone working for clients of Rod's caliber would perform to a much higher standard than evidenced.

Ya know, I think that there's a little slight-of-hand going on with this particular sale .
If I remember correctly, the first time these were mentioned for sale ( maybe at LHF ?, I forget ) it came out that these were 1 of 2 sets made ( & not necessarily by the original designer/constructor ) .
Provenance is everything ( for the asking price ) .
"Threats" to donate to the R&R Hall of Fame would ( at least ) get to the bottom of this ( matter of provenance ) .
