i'm trying 3/4" floor underlay. we'll see how it goes. the 420 bolt pattern matches my 411s and the 3154s. so once i get the the cabs sealed and reinforced. i can try them.
and yes the tweets are EPI domes (i had them) i left room so i can use a pair of MR 931 12s

believe it or not the cabs are squared. i still have some trimimg and cosmetics left. this week i should be getting the acry-tec texture coating and cab corners

the reinforcement is done. i still have to seal the inside, install the speaker terminal hardware, and the L-pad. but i did clean up the outsides a get them ready to coat them with the Acry-tec. i have the grill figured out. i have some perforated steel cloth i scavenged from a large pair of community speakers. i'm going to make plastic frames with 3/4" king starboard.

the 420As are nice but i need to see what the 411s and the 3154s sound like. either way the EPIs are kinda lost in the fog(figured they would be) and MR 931s will be in order with the 3154s. the 411s might just work for subs.

I'm just using a 5k highpass for the EPIs probly could go lower but I plan on the 931s

i tried a 3154 and a 411. i like the 411. nice lows. 5 cf seems a bit much for them. i'll need to make a smaller box for them. maybe a dual with 7 cf ?
the 3154 didn't seem to like the cab at all.

well i put them back together last night and tried them out. they fill the chapel building nicely. they seem to sound the same no matter where you are. next to the speakers or on the far end. strangely they sound the same in a 45 x 60 x 35 chapel as the do in my 10 x 12 living room. loudness and tone wise. the 5k high pass does not work with the EPIs. so i read up and went to radio shack and grabbed the last 10 uf nonpolarized cap and tried it. yes, huge difference. so i'll try different caps and add the L pads. good thing because we can't get the MR 931s from Bill anymore.

Actually Phil I think the 411 was designed for a 5 cu. Ft sealed cabinet.. If I'm not mistaken the Barcelona has a sealed 5 cube cabinet for the 411 in the Barcelona 873A.
