Re: Need a pair of 811b horns
GDM,
I would like to do a build post here as the Altec fans and experts lurk here. I will need occasional advice. I'm still new and unfamiliar with the board operation here for pics etc. I will most likely also post on Audio Circle, as I know how to navigate that site and there are very few "hostiles" there.
Thanks for the interest. I'm really looking forward to the build and was pleasantly supprised at how friendly most every one the board is. I'm learning quickly as I read through the posts.

I'm looking forward to it, Nick. And yes, there are a lot of great Altec folks here. They have to be good, patient folks to put up with me and my novice knowledge, dumb questions, and upstart assumptions.

Re: Need a pair of 811b horns
Sorry about the miss placed thread, rookie mistake.
On a positive note......... My 811 horns arrived this afternoon!
Over paid on e bay ($280. Shipped)
They are mint and better than I thought from the pictures. You can't tell by looking at them they are 40 years old at all.
I called Bill at GPA to order drivers but he was waiting for parts for the 416's. So I'm still a few weeks out.
More time to study for the build. Also checking into using Jupiter wax/stacked copper caps on the high pass of the GPA crossovers. I don't think they sell the values I need exactly and they are expensive so not sure on that yet...
