A shame the author didn't know that RCA34633 is the part number for the REPLACEMENT CONE ASSEMBLY only and is not the woofer per se.
Audiophile Nirvana- Audio Science and Engineering based - Site looks good already.

Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.

Not all vegetables make good leaders.
"RCA" stands for "ReCone Assembly", if memory serves, not Radio Corporation of America.

Did they just revise this article? I just read it today and it now states "The Model 14 uses a 12″ Altec Lansing low frequency transducer (it was never given a model number, but the cone kit is RCA34633) to reproduce the range between 35 Hz and 1.5 kHz. It is sometimes mistakenly thought to have been manufactured by RCA due to the part number of the cone kit."
It's a pretty good, honest review. As a Model 14 owner, I enjoyed parts 1 & 2 and am now waiting for them to post the final part--part 3. It had multiple links to Altec specs etc., I saved a few and added them to my collection....
Being of "Sound" Mind
The facts to the best of my knowledge:
Casual/OEM part number for the model 14 woofer is 34633
Altec factory inventory number for the model 14 woofer 50-03-034633
EDIT: When contemplating the "RCA" prefix also consider the "CR" prefix used by JBL for their replacement cone assemblies. For example if you bought a factory assembly for your 8 ohm 2226 woofer, you received a CR2226H. For those not familiar with JBL suffix letters, it's simple. G = 4ohms H = 8ohms J = 16ohms, and this applied to the actual drivers as well as the recone kits.

Nice Clarification,
I noticed the correction and didn't think much of it other than the author must be a regular on the Host Board or know Todd personally.
I am happy that the site is reporting on some classic loudspeakers. It is a bit of a trend right now, but the exposure will hopefully bring the industry to explore what is missing from newer designs (Tone and dynamics).
Can't wait for the Model 19 review.
