Re: Altec model 19 crossover
Had my first listening session yesterday and boy do they sound great.
I was blown away how good it sounded. Blues and especially guitar and voice was awesome. Even classical music like Yo-yo ma was delighted to listen to.
I also recieved an email from gpa, the new 19 filter is sold out but will be back in stock later on. Maybe i'll buy them for comparing.
But right now the waveguides sounds really good.

Glad you're enjoying your speakers. Are you using the 620 cabinets that are pictured in your other thread here? If not, can you post some pics of your cabinets? If you do buy the GPA Model 19 crossovers for comparison purposes, please post your impressions of them and let us know which crossovers you end up using.

Yes it?s the 620 cabinets.
The Z-19 smoothed out the horn a bit and made it sound a Little bit warmer. Now I compared from my previous filter N809 with some mods on. Also a benefit when having two "pots" to adjust the h.f and midrange.
I?ll promise if I buy I?ll will compare.

Nice! You did an excellent job with those cabinets. Yes, it's great (and unusual) having dual band EQ (h.f. and mid controls) on a two way crossover.

Re: Altec model 19 crossover
Here's the system in question .
That SEOS waveguide needs it's own custom network ( EQ ) to sound it's best ( optimally ) with each ( & every sort of ) driver attached to it.
It's a fallacy to think that a general purpose network ( or one meant for a specific system such as the M19 ) is the way to go.
Neither the Z19 or the M19 network are the best choice for that combo ( of 802-8G on a SEOS 15 ).

There is always possibilities to tweak things.
The question is if you hear the difference.

I don't know anything about the SEOS horn, but like all horns I'm assuming it has unique characteristics -- different from an 811b to say the least. Then again, the Model 19 cabinet is tuned differently than a 620 cabinet as well. Not to mention the fact that the 416-8a that's being used in that system is different than a 416-8b or 416-8c that you'd find in a Model 19. I'm assuming from his observations of how good his new system is sounding that he's somehow managed to dial it in satisfactorily--maybe with a graphic EQ etc.?

Re: Altec model 19 crossover
Did some listening tonight again and real satisfied with the sound. The crossovers will need some time to burn in as all the components was new.
Lansing4412 pease update your expressions when you have tested the seos also.
