the only driver that lists the diameter as 1.0" is the 909.(as far as I know.)
any of the other 900 series drivers literature that lists it show it as .875.
I call dibbs on the next set of 909 8As. (at a reasonable price)

Its crazy how few 900 series drivers I see on ebay compared to 800 series. I see 806 the most, then 802/808, and then the 900 series.
FWIW
This thread states that Jerry Hubbard, Chief Engineer, Acoustics, changed the 900s to 1 inch exit in 1989. (A link to the original Jim D post at Todd's place only brings up the Hostboard home page)
Their is also an observation, by Earl K, re 11 and 13 slit phase plugs.
What consitutes the diference between the 902-8a andb?
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
According to the Altec spec sheets the 902B and 902T are rated down to 500hz. The 902A is only rated down to 1200hz

Nothing on 'exits' but a good summary, nonetheless.

Yeah I know. Really none of the tangerines should be run down to 500hz, including the 802G/808B. Its interesting that Altec thinks with the addition of a loading cap on the 902B/T that that somehow will make it sound better under 1200hz. I know it allows for more diaphragm control but how does it sound?
Even with my 802D's I prefer the 800hz crossover point
Count the number of systems Altec designed around the tangerine equipped small format drivers that used a crossover point below 1200hz.

I don't mean to nitpick the Eckles list.
But.................. i believe it's just parroted information that was initially published on the net by and "Altec expert" whom i(and others) have some credibility issues with. Some of these "lists" should really be revised/appended.
I thank Earl K and a couple others for spelling out the facts with provenance and citation.
That the 804 is the same as an 806, and was simply reassigned a model number has been clearly proven to be a falsehood. The 804 uses a different phase plug and magnet than the 806.
