604-8G's on Ebay
Are these original Altec cone numbers? (doesn't look like it) Does anyone know if these have tangerines?

I'm guessing these wouldn't be appropriate cabinets-even if the ports were resized (cabs look too small)?

Re: 604-8G's on Ebay
Those have the later replacement 35400 cone numbers. The seller says they are original but I don't think so.
These are earlier 604G with the metal phase plug. I am pretty sure but not positive on that. You know its hard to say anything for certain with Altec. The only way to tell for sure is to have the seller pull the diaphragms. I would have him check both. One could be metal and the other tangerine
The way to tell 90% of the time about the phase plug is the little ridge on the woofer magnet cover. If it has the ridge then they are 515b and the metal phase plug. If the ridge is not there then they are 515c and they probably have tangerines.
I have the 35400 cones on my Urei 604G. While not original they do sound good. With that being said, as soon as the holidays are over and I have more cash I am sending them to GPA for a recone.
There are a pair of 604G that arent as "pretty" as those for 700$ BIN. I think it would be silly to pay 3,300$ for that set.

Also I asked the same question about that pair of speakers. They have been on ebay for a while

Check out this pair.

If you got them reconed they would look just as nice from the front

Wow, too bad I can't afford to save any money right now.
