I was really hoping to get some info on this amplifier to help direct my restoration efforts. Perhaps a little more patients is required........Thanks....Mike
Hello, My first post. I found a Altec mono tube amp and separate power supply using 2 6L6's. I think its a home brew per my inquiries over on the Audiokarma tube site. (pictures there). Anybody with info on this? Also, since I have to rebuild it. Whats the best use of the transformers? # TMQ-201 A. And TMQ-601. Keep the 6L6's. Or use a different tube? Couldn't find ANY info on them. Thanks....Mike

Custom build.
Maybe DIY, looks more like a government job to me.
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
Bowtie, thanks....Government job....yes maybe. Miss my access to a bridgeport mill!! Any one here have ANY info on those trafo's? Sorry, but I tried to post pic's here. Bought it and forgot about it a long time ago. Never plugged it in.
Spray contact cleaner into the tube socket
holes and run the amp up on a variac or
dim bulb tester.....
check B+ most likely around 400 V ,
6L6 cathode bias 28-32V .

Altec made a lot of very obscure stuff in limited quantities. Some is very hard to find info on.
A lot was PA related.
I had a pair of PA Booster amps. Uber rare. I stole the formers, and later found out they were worth a mint.
I can't view pics on audiokarma.
Too bad you only have the one.
Agree with 604Man on firing it up.

Ronsss, Thanks. Do you think it just might be an Altec built piece?
