604K and 411 woofers combo on ebay

I imagine these were originally Urei 813 or similar and someone swapped the Eminence drivers for the 411's. Or are these something else all together?

My SWAG is they are Altec installer customs; the S.E. area distributor [and no doubt many others around the country] had an in-house design team that designed/installed every manner of audio system from mobile audio to stadium systems to meet a specific app [and generously exposed me to a lot of tech info that others either refused or worse, gave me bad info to try and keep me 'in the dark'].

They certainly look well used and not in very good shape.
Interesting the surround goo melting out of one of the -8K's.
And if you look close, one 411 has the early orig inverted cloth surround. The other has a later foam surround. An "outie".

There is always some new and interesting custom Altec that I have never heard of. They all seem to be based on production models. The thing that drives me crazy is the small differences. Like what Ron said about the surrounds. That would drive me crazy if I owned these. And it seems to happen a lot, even in "matched" pairs.

I missed that too. Maybe they are a matched pair.

I like how even though one 411 is missing a surround, and they don't have the xovers, that they are "tested" and sound great with tube amps. Lol.
