It's from the pre-Altec era when Jim Lansing worked for the Aztecs. Very rare.

The seller must not check his email very often. I bet he already received a few messages telling him of his error.
I mean come on, he has the brochure with the pic of the 515G right next to the woofer. He can't tell them apart?

    That's funny.

On another board there was a discussion of the real "Aztec" speaker manufacturer. Not shabby stuff, either.

And then there was the Japanese company that manufactured gear under another name, but exact copies of Altec components. I can't remember the name of the company, but it seems they were manufacturing under license with Altec. The gear looked much nicer that the equivalent Altec parts, no welding slag on the horns, for example. Smooth finishes.

    Onkyo transducers.

Pretty heavy grinding marks along the parting line.

I knew you'd know. And by now, surely you know that Bill and I are baiting you with these enquiries and then counting down the seconds until you come up with the answer! Just kidding, of course. You must have an amazing memory.

    Re: can't stop laughing :D Pyle 515

I guess i have a fairly photographic memory when the interest level for the subject is above a certain threshold.

I like speakers, and have a bit of a soft spot for some of Onkyo's better products. Among those products is their "Scepter" series of loudspeakers. Not common in the USA, but several examples made it here and you will occasionally even see them pop up on ebay.

The scepter series had several models that sported features quite flattering to both Altec and JBL. Some of the flagship components were available from onkyo dealers for those who wished to roll their own.

I don't think anything was done by license, pretty sure they are all just flattering likenesses.

Wow! Those Scepter speakers are stunning. Gorgeous cabinetry. I'm going to save those pictures for some inspiration (read: stealing!) on my current project.

I had no idea that Onkyo ever built pieces of that quality. Have you had the opportunity to either own or audition any of those?
