Here is a youtube vid of a 1000 tube watt amp playing some Bach. Not sure of the speakers used but look at all the mercury rectifiers pulsing. This thing is frightening.
Bach Toccta D-Moll on 1000W Audio Tube Amplifier EL6471 - YouTube
I ordered a copy of the music, Bach Toccta D-Moll, probably have to hook up my sub woofers for full effect.

It also came in 2kw, 10kw and 20kw versions.
Bill, you will love the way Altecs handle pipe-organ music. The Toccata in D-minor is stunning in its simplicity and power.

Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
Another film of my Philips EL6471. For displaying the music, a 12W tubeamplifier is connected, for I have no 1000W-loudspeaker. The EL6471 works in a load resistor
Your neighbors called. They like your music.
He's gonna need a 1000 watt OPT before he needs to worry about the 1000 watt speaker.
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
I have it on good authority that Bach wrote that piece specifically to watch his own tube amps glowing. Seems incandescent bulbs of that day gave off so little light that he used the glowing tubes to illuminate his dinner table.

Why 1,000 Watts ??
ALTECs, with a proper tube amp, will play with 2 to 3 Watts - just fine. ( Actually, far better than anything else, tube or solid state, possible. )
Of course, the typical high-end audiophile SET tube amp, 99.9% of them, can never possibly cut it full range, on ALTECS.
But some folks do know what to employ, how to implement it, and actually do so.

Why a 1000 watts? Why not, my Carver Platinum ribbons could put a very nice load on that amp. My Carver Silver 7t monoblocks put out 575Watts per unit and those speakers are just warming up. It would be nice to hear them on some monster tube amps.
