Ah Bowtie I didn't think about rattling the poor VU meters to death. Very good point and cool idea about the digital meters.
I listen to these speakers pretty loud. It seems they sound cleaner in the larger cabs. At halfway volume on my Hafler preamp they are just getting started

So then something around the size of an 828 cab (without the horn of course) would be close to ideal?
Hmm, that's ~15 ft^3 minus bracing, driver, so probably close enough since driver [Vas] often is a bit lower than published, though puts the driver too low for me personally, but if one already has some old A7 cabs collecting dust and/or 'slumps' lower to the floor than me............

I had all the panels cut for an 828 cab. I then decided to use them to build a BR cab the same size. Interior volume(loaded with 1x416 8B and substantial panel bracing) is 13.25cu.ft.
Tuning at present is in the low thirties. Most recordings don't go that low but when they do the speakers deliver.
Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
I ended up raising the 620 cabs up about 18". That puts the horns very close to ear level when sitting in my listening chair. I have them toed in to where the right horn is pointed at my left ear, and left horn is pointed at my right ear. In other words, they cross right in front of me.
I am still playing around with acoustic panels and getting that right. Seems like its always a work in progress. I'll play around with the 620 cabs until I can find/build something bigger. With all the projects I have going on with my house right now that will probably be a while.
