hello,i would think great plains audio would have a few.have you tried them?
So I'm looking for some cast pot 802 or 808 drivers and finally get a clean one for a good price. It has the later style cover on it (maybe a clue that it is tangerine style?) and it looks pretty nice.
First thing I do is open it up hoping the diaphragm is original and I see a big empty hole where the tangerine should be sitting. Grrrrr. And no, its a aftermarket beat up diaphragm as well.
So I sent a letter off to him, he has several other units as well. I'll keep this if I think I can find a tangerine, not sure where to look though. I know that they are just glued into place. This is bumming me out. On top of that, I was hoping for the circumferal <sp> phase plug. These are going to be for the field coil conversions.
Thanks for any help.

I wonder if the new style "swirly" GPA phase plug will fit in the older Altec drivers? Its definitely worth calling Gpa to ask.

Opinion is only as valid as its verifiable supporting evidence.
They have some good stuff at Jammin Jersey. Prices are a little high, but if you need it, they probably have it.
I talked to Bill at GPA, he said that he would help me out on that when I'm ready. I want to order some new diaphragms in the near future so I'll get it than.
Thanks guys.

I hadn't been on the Jammin Jersey site before, but - whew! - some of those prices are breathtaking. $400 for a 416-8A. $400 for an 802. Good for them if they can demand those prices, but they are waaaaay over my head.

Well after talking to the seller about this he went and checked the other 3 units he had. Turns out all of those units were missing the phase plugs as well! I wound up working a deal out with him. For the price of shipping I could have all 3 and were square.
So now I have four 808-8B drivers with no tangerines. I'll ship two off to GPA for the spa treatment with fresh diaphragms. They will be converted to 802-8G.
The nice thing is these drivers look almost brand new with the later style caps.
The other two I want to use for the field coil conversion.
Has anyone swapped phase plugs from tangerines to the all metal circumference style?
I'll open one up and take a few critical measurements to see if the dome will be the same distance from the plate.
On that note, does anyone have any good metal phase plugs? I'll need two of them.
