With the 511a and 511b, the difference is the 511b has mounting holes on the flange to mount the horn, and the 511a does not. Maybe that is the difference with the 811a/811b?
Anyone have any info on the 811A (not B) horns?
thanks.

Seller misread the label. They are 811B's.
The original 811 is often called an 811a. It is a one piece casting. Originally 801's had a 3 bolt pattern, same as later JBL.
Early 811's have this. So do early 808's. Later 811's have the two bolt mounting as Altec was in the process of switching to a 2 piece casting.

A pair of 2 bolt 811's:
In 50+ years of working with Altec have seen several 3 bolt 808's but only one pair of 3 bolt 811's.
Your neighbors called. They like your music.
Thank you OG.
Old Guy, thanks for the photo's of the 811 with the one piece casting, I never knew they existed.
The H808 horns are on my "want" list but are out of my reach and rarely come up for sale. Sure would look nice on top of my speaker cabinets though.
