Who has any dead/blown 421's ???
After reconing my long time friends 421's, I asked him to call Bill @ GPA about reconing 421's with the GPA 515LF recone kit. The specs are almost identicle to a 421lf. The differences being the 421 used a tight spider and heavy cone (cone no longer availiable) to a light cone and loose spider. The major difference being X max and reference efficiency. Bill said they would work. There are only two other speakers with a higher reference efficiency, a 515 16g and the 515 ghp. So how low and loud can we go ???

I like this idea. I have 4 GHPs but they're not rated very low, this could be a way of finally building a pair of 210s

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a 421 that was reconed as a 416. It's been exhibiting a little vc rub, so I've pulled it from action. Reconing this time as a 515 is an interesting idea.

Phil-G if those 515ghp are blown I'll trade you for 421's. If not, use them as prescribed. Loud high power mids. (I need three for the front channels.) GDMoore, I have to pay some property taxes before I go on a buying spree. But let's see who posts the pix first. I'm curious to the voice coil height and what's its wound on. My friends 421 were wound on kapton with the 421 traditional cooling holes in the coil. Good to see that Bill made the change to the 21st century! I have two 421 lfs, three 421 h's and three 421 8h II that all need reconing.
