Most audio enthusiasts can't/don't pronounce Neumann properly either.

Agreed. That is a quote from the reference. The value is the info on lesser known Altec guys. Did you miss it?
By the way it is Noy-man or Noy-mun, depending on the German regional accent. I have some understanding of German phonetics.
Braun is pronounced brawn or brown(German). It doesn't matter because the company uses both pronunciations in different markets.

Surely, i did not. Many thanks for postingDid you miss it?
Still browsing/reading, interesting and revealing stuff about Manny Mohageri's involvement with Renkus in developing the EA-175, the first Emilar product. More interesting is his immigration and naturalization from Iran to the US.

Great. We share the interest in the history and achievements in audio.

I wouldn't know squat without them! All most of us do is 'stand on the shoulders of the giants' that came before us and even the later 'inventors' often are mostly 'paraphrasing' earlier designs and often doing little more than rewriting/updating expired patents, which for at least one company has proven to be a very profitable venture.

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.
GM I think you are selling yourself short!!!!!!! You have learned Sir, and a lot of this could have been lost, but you have helped and taught many!!!!!!!!! Great for you...............you write things that are of or approach LORE. I have read many of your posts in many places rarely are you confuted convincingly..........
Yes yes, you are right. He (GM) is just being too modest. Whenever I have needed some clarifications, I just browse thru his replies and I get it. The best part is that he covers almost all the relevant topics while answering the the main question. These do not come easy. They need painstakingly deep studies to get there. Truly great.

That's one of the things I love about Altec as well, not only the great sound experience I get every time I turn on my stereo but knowing that most of my drivers are only a little removed from the antique drivers that WE developed at the dawn of hifi reproduction. The fact that there basic designs work so well today speaks volumes about the work that they did to develop them.
I don't think that any of those early engineers really thought that 80 years later there would be the kind of following that transpired with all the so called "achievements" in driver design.
All of this engineering and complex math with just a slide rule! My Dad was an engineer, designed the first continuous casting mills for steel in the US. I remember when I got my first calculator, he could beat me in most calculations using one of those slide rules. LOL
